Wholly agree. The ref has to manage the game. Sometimes they can make it too tight with too many early cards, but that wasn't the situation today. A derby with so much on the line, you have to lay down the law early on.
By the time he started handing out yellows, it had already gotten out of hand and it's practically impossible to walk that back.

Which of course justifies poking players in their eyes, stamping on their hands, and those very late tackles. It makes sense obviously.
Chelsea didn't say anything all that inflammatory I don't think. And what is crazy is that there was still plenty of time to get a winning goal. And Tottenham decided, almost collectively, that they would rather act like children.

You are exaggerating. Both teams were tackling hard. Previous poster talking about them losing dignity is such a joke. Grow a pair.

So are you saying Dembele didn't poke Costa in the eye, or Fabregas didn't get stamped by Lamela? Is that what you are actually arguing?
The hard tackles are not that big of a deal, but Dier was very late on Hazard and could have been a red if Clattenberg was in a mood.
Again it was very weird that they didn't mount an attack after Hazard scored. I don't remember one shot on goal after that point.

Fan of the game and I think they are the best team in the league. I'm not whining just find it overly dramatic to call them out for playing hard. I agree there were a few questionable decisions on their part but didn't see anything that would result in them "losing their dignity". That's just flat out weak to say

Uh, then why didn't they actually play after Hazard scored? I don't remember a shot on goal for them after that. That would count as actual playing. Even shite teams get late long ball opportunities. They played into a defensive shell and couldn't break out, which gave Chelsea lots of time, space, and possession of the ball.
