And I've watched it several times. Elia was in no way fouled. You are obviously just blind to it, and either hate Spain or just want there to be some atrocious call that lead to Holland getting screwed over. Plain and simple, there was no foul there. Both defenders turned and played almost perfect defense there and Elia decided to flop like a typical Holland Pussy!

from another poster that is arguing that it wasn't a bad call

I think Elia was pushed, but I completely understand the ref not blowing the whistle. Just like before, it was a judgment call, and the ref made a judgment.

even the people that agree with you could clearly see that he was pushed

I agree Puyol's foul was worse in that sense, but anyone that bitches about the officiating as hampering the Dutch needs to GTFO.
But that hasn't been my argument at all. My argument has been that SPAIN can't complain about the refs because after not getting the red card, the ref then spent an entire half giving Spain almost every benefit of the doubt and plenty of very questionable calls. It's like the refs got together to decide to make it up to Spain.

Which pretty much defines crappy officiating. NEVER call a make up call. It's just what bad refs do.

You are consistent - your opinion seems to be that any call in favor of Spain is good and in favor of the Dutch is bad. Seriously, if the ref was bad, which we agree on, name me the bad calls that went in Spain's favor. My opninion has also been consistent - that judgment calls can go either way and can't be classified as "bad calls" per se. I think the ref's bad call were giving cards when there was minimal contact, handed out a card on play he didn't see, being inconsistent with advantage calls, and missing the obvious corner.

I said that overall the Spainiards didn't get an advantage. A blown call that should've had them with a man advantage for 2/3rds of the game is huge.

There were ticky tack calls both ways, and this ref was awful.

My point was that the Hollandtards can't bitch about reffing when they clearly should've been down a man 35 minutes into the game.

Getting bumped does not equal a foul. Your entire point is there was contact so a foul should have been called on Spain there. Contact does not = foul genius.

He wasn't fouled. PERIOD. Was their contact? Yes, but any good official won't call that.

i hope the people in this thread arent crying over the elia non foul call

you ask any ref if an attacking player tries to split two defenders like that and gets knocked down bc of it and they will tell you to get the frick up.

the debate begins and ends with the missed or blown offside call. the play should've been stopped and the goal would've never happened

I've watched the initial ball several times and while I think it was close, I think he was onside because of the far defender. It's close, and certainly close enough not to raise the flag.

For some reason watching Spain is like pulling teeth to me. They are very talented and adept at passing and ball possession, but they seem to take the air out the game. They were the best side and deserved to win, but I don't enjoy watching their games.
