backpedaling on what? i thought it was offsides, he says it wasnt so im just telling him im not the biggest of soccer fans. no sports event should ever end in a tie. its frickin lame. sporting events are made to have a winner.

The event is not over.

And for the offside call you need two defenders between the player and the goal. It's as simple as that.

Common mistake though.

If you're referring to the overturned goal in the first half, then you're a moron. Vela was in an offside position because he was behind the goalie, the 2nd to last defender in this instance, when the ball was flicked to him.

But how did the ESPN announcer not know that?
Seemed like he was saying it was a bad call, and that confused me.

Did they ever apologize for it in the 2nd half? I was waiting for it, but didn't catch it, if they did.

Nope. They decided to pretend it didn't happen.

And now the people who know nothing about soccer think Mexico got screwed.

I don't think any of the "experts" in Bristol or anywhere else felt like bringing it up either.

He did mention it in passing when there was question as to who the ball went off of early in the 2nd half and the linesman awarded the throw to South Africa he quickly said "he was right about the offsides so I trust he's right here as well".

AS awesome as the stadium looks, I'm kinda drunk.

Now, to me, it resembles a HUGE bedpan!

Just saying....
