With melatonin, you'll either have the best sleep of your life or you'll spend the entirety of the night trapped in a bad acid trip. I have the same problem where Benadryl makes me hyper and sleep medicine takes hours to work, but melatonin almost always does the trick. I actually started drinking Emergen-Z before I know I need sleep, which tastes like shite, but it works well without overdoing it.

I can take so the allergy medicines right before going to work and not be affected at all. My wife takes a Benadryl and sleeps for 12 hours. I don't know what's wrong with me.

That's what makes Draymond Green special. He's lying about being, like, 6'6".

Actually think I'm tired enough to give sleep a try. I'll check back in with you guys whenever I wake up

So accurate. Some nights I slept well and woke up feeling amazing. Some nights I would wake up in the middle of the night in the kitchen trying to fight the little blade of grass that grew up and became immortal.

Hendo, try reading a book. The screen affects your circadian rhythm and makes it harder for you to fall asleep. No screens for an hour before bed. Also download flux for your computer. It changes the colors slightly to help combat that screen effect on your circadian rhythm and help decrease strain on your eyes.
My girlfriend has found that other first generation antihistamines (like Dramamine) work better for her than Benadryl. I would try that out. Find the active ingredient and get the generic. It's the same thing as the ones advertised as sleep aids, except cheaper. I think that one is called doxyalamine succinate or something like that.
I tried melatonin for a while but then I had the weird fricking dreams. I'm a cat lover and the final straw was a dream where I started stomping on kittens. I haven't touched the stuff since then.
If you have a doctor, maybe ask for a Trazadone prescription. That stuff works amazing for me.
More than anything though, good sleep hygiene is important. I'm guilty of not maintaining good sleep hygiene, as evidenced by the time stamp on this post.

Holy shite, dude, I had a similar dream recently that made me stop taking it for a bit. I woke up and felt like I had to go dote on my cat for a while because I felt so shitty. What made me feel even more guilty is that I was taking it because I hadn't been able to sleep much during a crunch period and when I could, her and my girlfriend sleep like fricking psychopaths so the sleep I got was awful.
I'm not sure if it was the melatonin or just my pure rage in a state of exhaustion, but that shite was uncool. I also have terrible sleep habits, though, since a day of work for me could be 6 hours or 26 hours depending on the project. So, I either have to pick between taking melatonin or some sort of sleep aid or be awake forever because my body's adjusted to being awake for so long.
I'll probably die before I'm 35 from this shite so I need to find a solution for it at some point.

Nothing weird to report. Alarm went off at 5:15 and I was mad. Just like every morning. No vivid dreams that I can remember

Yeah you should try maintaining more regular sleep habits. Research has shown that irregular sleep like you and I get leads to decreased life span.

Thank God, I mean who really wants to be approaching 90? I don't get it. We should cap everyone like they do in brave new world.
