So, Altidore and Dempsey to both play for new teams a year before WC.

Could be a good thing. Jozy could very well blossom into one of the better strikers in EPL and if Dempsey moves to a new team he could become an important player for his new team. At this point he is just a squad rotation player at Spuds.

We don't know this.

Dempsey has been put up by Spurs for some time now...it was mentioned in the Telegraph about a month ago. This does not mean that every player put on the market leaves.

Altidore at Sunderland may be better than I originally thought. He did his job at Alkmaar, now it is time to take the next step and face bigger challenges.

If Dempsey is not getting much playing time at Spurs, don't you think it would be a good thing that he transfer out?

Especially considering that he just took over the captaincy.

well, it's rumoured that the Black Cats are interested in Dempsey, if it works out that way it would be HUGE for the US heading into the WC.

If Sunderland gets Dempsey they would turn into a mid table team pretty quickly you would think since they just added giacherrini.

I've noticed statements like this several times lately either here or in articles I've read. Is this really the case? He had several short injury stints last season but, when healthy and available to be chosen, started a majority of Spurs games. It could have been because of a lack of options, but AVB really seems to like him.

I guess next season may be a different story but from what AVB showed us in his first season, we have to assume that he really values what CD brings. I don't know if a move is best for him right now, less than a year after his transfer so late in the window last summer. A full preseason with the team would no doubt be good for him. I'm confident that he will see plenty of time next season, as a starter or just an oft used utility guy who can play several positions.

It could help the US team actually. I don't see anyway he doesn't get enough PT to keep him sharp. Even if he doesn't get quite the number of when-healthy minutes as last season, it could mean a fresher Deuce for next summer.
