What is latest in its conversion to a soccer/rugby stadium. Will NOLA ever get a professional soccer team ?

Last I heard it is unlikely to happen. They want a new stadium downtown but they will need big money backing for that to happen. I hear Benson was approached but I don’t think she’s interested.

I just don't understand why they don't use Yulman for it.

I'm fairly certain they constructed the field to accommodate soccer at the time.

It’s been radio silence for a while regarding the USL team. Probably won’t happen, which sucks…but I’d almost rather have no team than have a team that plays at the shrine.

Definitely would be a good soccer stadium that is centrally located, but Tulane would have to approve it. And they would still need a owner or ownership group that wants to take on the millions it would need to start the organization.

They actually didn't.

I went to one of their TAF events once and asked if there were any plans to revive soccer and the assistant AD said no, because there's nowhere to play or practice.

I would think any football field can accommodate futbol as well. Apparently not.

Yeah, I just looked at the google maps image of it and it's way too narrow for a pitch.

I could've sworn I remember reading the Glazers wanted accommodate it for soccer when it was originally built

Probably too tight a squeeze on that part of campus. Unless they bought out those blocks of Calhoun Street, which would have significantly raised the price of the stadium.

It’s a width issue… youth and high school can play on the width of a football field but higher levels aren’t allowed to
