Serious USMNT discussion: What is your ideal lineup for the US?

Ok, let's be realistic for a second. For the next qualifier, what do you think the US's best lineup is?
Here is my opinion:
My reasoning behind this is that Gonzalez and Chandler really stunk it up in the last qualifier, and while Boca is old he definitely provides calm and stability in the back, as well as an offensive presence on set pieces. Castillo is playing really well in Mexico right now, and this allows us to push Johnson up to the wing. We've played a 4-1-2-1-2 before (aka 4-4-2 diamond midfield), against Slovenia, with Johnson and Bradley on the wings, and it was the most impressive offensive showing under Klinsmann. Jozy gets a somewhat speedy guy running off of him in Gomez, and Dempsey works well in the hole. We can let Jones be the destroyer in front of the defense.
I think this formation and lineup will provide us with greater threats on the wings and better distribution to our forwards, both of whom are in great form currently.
Now, hypothetically, what is the best possible lineup with the players in our pool, come 2014? For our purposes we are assuming everyone is 100% healthy.

This is fun. I just made my current players dream lineup.

Ideal lineup if everyone is on board (AHEM Landon)
Reasons: Geoff Cameron has excelled at left and right back for Stoke City and has shown me way more than Timmy Chandler has. Fabian Johnson when healthy is our best bet at LB IMO. Johnson can get forward and is excellent on the ball, far more poised than Castillo or Lichaj. Maurice Edu's versatility at CB and CDM makes him an excellent candidate to sit back as a false "extra" sweeper so he can help hold the MF when Bradley and Jones go forward, where they are far more effective IMO. Edu can also help Bocanegra as he ages and Gonzalez who is very inexperienced and at times seems lost out there. Both Holden and Donovan seem to do well on the wings, and by positioning them out wide in a 4-1-2-3 formation they both have freedom to come into the middle and create, ala iniesta with Barca (yes I know LD and SH are not on that level, however the premise can still work). Dempsey played extremely well as a lone striker at Fulham and he's one of the few American players who understands that if you get hit in the box you need to go down and try and get that call for your team. He also has the best touch of any of our strikers IMO. Jozi's strength does not lie in winning 50/50 balls against two defenders, he thrives on service and space like he is right now at AZ Alkmaar. Therefore, Dempsey is the best option to play as a lone striker given our midfield/wing situation.
Also, I wish Brad Friedel was there to challenge Howard even though I greatly respect Tim.

That's terrible, absolutely no width and it's laughable that Edu is the only center mid.

Things haven't been going smoothly with what we've been doing have they? Obviously Bradley and Jones wouldn't always push forward, but I don't want my MF running into each other.

Well putting Edu as your lone central mid, and putting Cameron, Holden, Jones and Bradley out of position is not the answer.
You really think Cameron is a better RB than Cherundolo and Chandler, really?

4-4-1-1, with one of Jones/Edu/Williams and Bradley in the middle and actual wide midfielders on the outside, with Dempsey playing behind Jozy. I think we've got about a .00000000000000000000000000000000000145 chance of seeing that, though.

I'd put money on Jozy in a foot race, FWIW. Don't confuse hustle with actual speed.

Feel free to critique/destroy.
ETA: just realized my MFs and forwards are very shallow.

I think we're discussing lineups for the NEXT qualifier...
Don't think I would include Holden in that yet.

Yeah, I was doing the hypothetical 2014 one that he mentioned second. Sorry for lack of clarification.

I think your lineup could work if we managed to figure out the 4-3-3. I just haven't seen enough from us in that formation to warrant trying it again.

Since Brek is with Stoke now and getting some PT, normally being subbed in around minute 65 or so, will he be selected for the next qualifier? If he is, does he get any PT? I can't really tell you why, but I absolutely love the guy and think he's gifted, has swag, and can be a threat for us.
Did anybody put GAM in there lineup? He was one of our better players against Honduras actually.

GAM did look good, which makes his subbing off all the more baffling. I expect Shea to be on the roster. Klinsmann likes him and I think he provides a good spark off the bench. That said, if he starts

Ideal?
Shea subs in for GAM in the 65th minute.
If Donovan is around we can put him where Dempsey is and put Dempsey on the left.
Danny Williams can sub in for Holden if we're ahead in the 70th.

What is Holden's natural position? He's been stationed as a defensive mid in a diamond formation, a holding mid, a center mid, a right mid and a wide attacking player in this thread.
