You'd be singing a different tune if it was a USA player.

Not justifying his actions by any stretch, but having watched the full game, it was only a matter of time before he snapped. Classic qualifier from both sides.

I was watching when that happened, there was a lot of that going on from both sides...

Is there a reason the referee is allowing the defender to bear hug Suarez in the box like he just found a long lost puppy? I agree that punching him in the face was the wrong move only because an elbow to the throat would have been more effective.

Not defending Suarez's punch by any means, but the defender who decides to mark by violent hugging deserves a jab.

Central/South American World Cup qualifying. That happened the entire match. And with Suarez's temper, it was just a matter of time.

not saying it is excused

Sure, but that's how these things work.

Clint Dempsey is a thug POS when he goes up for headers, but he's our thug POS.

Sure, I get that. It isn't really a problem with me considering I don't really care about other's opinions on Suarez.

Just commenting that if that had happened in a USA match, where the Chilean defenders are instigating on every set piece and are purposefully trying to get under Dempsey's skin, then chants of 'USA' would break out after Clint decks him.

The match thread would be a sea of Jamaica-faces, for sure.

I'm just thankful this happened in international play and not In the league or a domestic cup. The English media and FA would use it as a means to rid the country of that evil villain Suarez for good.

Luckily the PL has good enough refs for the most part to prevent that kind of situation from ever coming to fruition. It would be 100% on Suarez if he did something like that in England.

While watching the match, I was wondering how long before this showed up on this board... given the USA match last night, I'm not surprised it lasted until today...

Every USMNT fan on here doesn't agree with Jermaine Jones tactics. Jones elbowed someone friday night.

Jones stomped on Reus broken foot in the Bundesliga.

etc. etc.

Even we get tired of his antics. Granted he is the most technical passer out of that CDM that we have at the moment.

Douches gonna douche.

Chicharito should have gotten a elbow early on in the game when he was pushing on Guzan and Edu. Then crying to the ref about getting pushed back.

Too bad. It wasn't Jones :(

dude, totally agree, he's such a punk bitch. Can't wait till they make the trek to Columbus and meet their old pal Landon Donovan on the pitch again.
