What you fail to grasp is that I am only comparing winning the league versus winning the FA Cup.

The downside of this sort of interaction is that some people look at it like a bar discussion and others more like a courtroom proceeding.
I brought up that it has been a very long time since Arsenal won the league, to the point that it is ancient history. At least by my definition. Heck I'm proud LSU won the NC in 2007, but dang, its over and time to be in the present.
Someone brought up winning the FA Cup. I was simply commenting that the accomplishment is not the same.
Then, like in a bar discussion, others chime in when they weren't part of the original discussion. It's fine of course, but it does confuse the issue.

Well there has been a philosophical shift, as well as Wenger trying his damnedest to build a decent team on a shoestring budget. We have more money now, but still not enough to compete with teams who can spend a shite ton each year. We can basically buy one high profile player a year.
Not winning it is not as disappointing as how we lost the titles in 2007-08, 2009-10, 2010-11, 2013-14, 2014-15, and this season. We had chances each season, but a combination of injuries, poor finishing, and poor defensive positioning cost us key games each year.
That said, staying in the top four throughout that run is nothing short of amazing, especially with some of the teams we put out.

I hear mixed things about this.
From some I hear that there is a lot of money but they just won't spend.
From others I hear that there is little to no money because of the stadium.

Arsenal have paid off the stadium. They have money. Their owner is very reluctant to spend.

So what you hear is that we have money now after 2013 when new deals from Emirates and Puma kicked in. We have around 40 mil a summer to spend without dipping into cash reserves that we must have as a condition of our stadium financing. The stadium debt is still there, and will be until 2028 I think. So we are continually servicing the debt with a yearly 25 mil payment with penalties to ensure we do not pay the debt off early. So we have more money but we are still in debt. It's like buying a house and a car at the same time. You have debt on both, but you pay the car off early and thus have more to spend, but you are still in debt.

Maybe so....but I'd argue that the team got too confident after the 3-0 win over United and the 4-0 win @ Stoke. They picked up 2 points over the last 4 matches after those vs the teams that finished 14, 10, 6 & 18, respectively. That can't happen....especially if you're hoping to make a challenge for the title or even top 4. After the Stoke win, the media was buzzing about a Spurs title run. I really think that got into the heads of this young team. Then they come up against a WBA team that seems to always give us problems and they have a subpar game and start to lose their cool. That problem is exacerbated at Chelsea. Losing Alli and Dembele show a need to improve depth in the middle of the pitch no doubt. You can't have something like that happen again. Spurs were fortunate with injuries this season. I don't think that we can count on that for the future.

If you told me Spurs would be in the CL at the beginning of the season I would have been thrilled and while I am quite happy with the finish, I can't help but be a little disappointed in the way the season ended.
