Yeah, 26 out of a possible 30 for the last 10 league games is just ridiculous.

Wait, wait, wait, wait...you don't consider the Europa League a real trophy, but the League Cup and the CWC are?

Of course, they aren't consolation trophies. Not saying they are awesome or anything but better than Europa.

If my team hadn't won a trophy in nearly a decade I might feel differently too and I don't mean that as a total flame it's just reality of the situation.

However, Europa is worthless for a club like Chelsea. It would be like Kentucky winning the NIT or LSU winning the Independence Bowl.

Would you feel differently if Chelsea hadn't qualified for CL last season? Europa would be much less of a consolation if that was the competition you set out to compete for at the beginning.

I've thought about that and really it just depends. I

If our league situation was the same as it was this year and we were battling for the top 4 then I still would have been totally against going all out for it.

However, if we had finished 5th last year and were comfortably in the top 4 I would have been fine with going for it and much happier winning it.

the Club World Cup means about as much as the Emirates Cup (a trophy we have won!) and, though Arsene may have been the first to vocally demean the merits of the Carling Cup, it's fairly universally accepted as a meaningless trophy these days. I mean, the prize you get for winning it is getting into the Europa League...

They have good pieces for a 4-2-3-1. One could argue their 3-4-3 doesn't suit them as well as it should.

Hamsik should fit well and Inler might be able to play in his more natural role.

I've never really liked their back 3 anyway..

That's what I figured. It would be much harder to be upset about not winning a trophy you weren't competing for.

Or that we weren't the holders of.

I disagree mainly because it's not something you get to compete very often at all. While it may not be a great trophy it's still a novel competition and it would be nice to add something new to the collection.

I wasn't going to streak through the streets naked had we won but at least it would have been a trophy won only because we got knocked out of a real (and our original) competition.

your reasoning behind the CWC fits for the Emirates Cup too as well as the Europa League for Chelsea.

Don't know what that is or care enough to look it up.

Again, we earned our way into the CWC by winning the biggest club competition in the sport. We got into the Europa League by being the first club to do so and then not progress past the group stage.

You may not agree with my opinion but surely you can understand it? The Europa League, for Chelsea in 2012/13, is a consolation trophy.

yes, I see what you are saying. I do not at all agree with the logic, especially since existing in English football period is how you qualified for the FA Cup.

And contested by all the best teams in England.

The Europa League is contested by teams who could not win, or finish high enough in their league, or advance past the knockout stage of the CL.

Pretty clear difference to me.

Still a tougher tournament than the FA Cup, and the payout is almost three times as much as the FAC gives their winners.

Heck, you get more money for winning one round of Europa than you do for making the final four of the FAC.

I know that Chelsea doesn't need the money, but it's more beneficial to a club to win the Europa than it is to win the FAC. The FAC is more of a domestic pride kind of thing.

This is irrelevant to the average fan, particularly one of a club who doesn't need money.

This is what it's all about.
