I read something I though rang true... Rafa is a long term manager, in a temporary position... Meaning the way he does things and squad rotation, etc. is with the future in mind. He doesnt know any other way. In reality, he was brought in to secure a top 4 finish (cups, etc. would be lagniappe) and was probably 99% gone at the end of the season.

Since you are a plastic bandwagoner let me give you a lesson in history.

1. It is ignorant to blame just the Liverpool fans for Heysel. The Juventus fans were throwing missiles at the Liverpool fans to begin with. If you know anything about Italian football you will know what their ultras were(are) like. In 1984 Liverpool had gone to the Rome the year before and had come under attack from the Italian sc*m. So the anti-italian sentiment was rife. When the fans on the Liverpool side of the enclosure came under attack they rushed to the fencing. The Juventus fans fell back and some tried to get out. In the melee a wall collapsed and crushed people resulting in the sad deaths of 39 people. Subsequent legal proceedings implicated various top cops and authorities.

2. In the 70s and 80s Hooliganism was a problem across England and Europe. All clubs were involved. Case in point the white supremacist neo nazi Chelsea Headhunters who revelled at being the most notorious hooligans in England. Y'all just didn't get as much attention because, thankfully, you weren't good at doing shite. Liverpool on the other hand did not have an organized hooligan firm at all. Liverpool got more attention because in they were literally the best team in the country and amongst the top three on the continent. They were winning everything to win, they were at every cup final and they had the biggest crowds.

3. The ban on English clubs was bandied by none other than the "much beloved" Maggie Thatcher. She put pressure on the FA to withdraw English teams from Europe and subsequently forced UEFA's hand to do the same. English football was blighted by hooliganism. Which is why all other clubs were banned. Liverpool was banned an extra year because of the Heysel disaster. In 77-78 season, ManU fans rioted in Paris. Leeds fans rioted in the 70's and so did Spurs. English football was on its final warning in 1985, the FA had already been warned by UEFA that the next events of hooliganism would lead to a ban of all clubs. Because the problems took place at a Liverpool match, they were banned for an additional year after the other English clubs were allowed back in. So don't try to pin English clubs being banned from Europe on Liverpool.

4. The team that suffered the most due to the ban was none other than Liverpool. The all conquering teams of the late 80s could not participate in Europe. In some ways we are still paying for it for not cashing in on the European levels just when access to football was starting to spread. And ManU stole a march on us subsequently when the Premiership started. You were a team of good for nothing neo-nazi numpties till a Russian took fancy so shut your face. And stop misrepresenting facts.


I am not absolving Liverpool fans of all the blame. But to say that they were the only hooligans in England and they were solely responsible for the banning of English teams from Europe is downright reprehensible.

I know this won't shut your ignorant gob and nothing will. I just felt like wasting 15 minutes of my time on trying to educate you.

Friend of mine who goes to UCL and attends Chelsea games regularly says the atmosphere at the shed has sucked since Rafa took over and he blames the fans too. Dude is also the only intelligent Chelsea fan I have ever talked to.

1) When did I say Chelsea fans were bandwagon? In fact, just yesterday I said how stupid the bandwagon argument is.

2) Yes its fricking ok. Saying someone is an arse hole is far different than using a terrible tragedy in which innocent people died to prove any point. Would it be ok to use 9/11 on the poli board to prove a point? No, its fricking classless.

lol. One of my best friends lives in London and grew up a lifelong blue. I think I would know a bit more than you about how your own fans think about these things. Maybe if you ever visited the place you would understand.
