The Guardian

quote:

Christian Pulisic is poised to leave Chelsea for Milan, with final details being discussed on a €22m (£18.8m) transfer for the winger. Subject to a medical the American will follow Ruben Loftus-Cheek in moving from Stamford Bridge to the Serie A club this summer.

Personal terms were agreed weeks ago with Pulisic, who has been pushing to join Milan amid interest from other clubs. Chelsea received a £21.5m bid from Lyon and will be due a percentage of any sell-on fee under the terms of their arrangement with Milan. The excellent relationship between the clubs was crucial to getting a deal done. Olivier Giroud, Tiémoué Bakayoko and Fikayo Tomori have made the same move in recent years.

Good for all involved, he’s a got a few years of prime in him still. One of the most over hyped and over criticized players in recent Chelsea history.

he's 24, not 29.

over hyped

I don't think that's fair, makes it sound like he was a scrub, when he was objectively Chelsea's best player coming out of the COVID break and scored some big goals in big competitions for them.

Yeah to be fair to Pulisic it appears that Chelsea is simply being run like shite right now, so good for him to get out from under that.

This coming from a Leeds supporter who realizes our shite ownership just sold to someone new, so stones and glass houses etc.

But the statement still holds water.

Haven’t really followed this move much, other than seeing it was in the works on Twitter. Was Pioli pushing for this? That’s my only concern. Is he actually wanted at the club by the manager?

Everything I have seen says that Pioli wanted him so that he could play him as a 10.

Would be interesting. Can’t remember him playing there at club level, except occasionally with Dortmund maybe. In any case, I’m glad pioli wants him.

What a dumb take. Poch is a world class manager. If any of these players had what it takes, Poch would have assured they stayed on.

Kind of incredible Chelsea won the champions league only having three players who “had what it takes.”

Lots of incredible play in that final. Mendy, Rudiger and Kante. CP’s contribution was a great miss.

This is just a lazy take by someone who’s trying too hard.

Yep, you’re right. Christian Jesus-Christ Pulisic single handily won a champions league for Chelsea. As a matter of fact, he was the only player on the pitch. It was a rousing 1v11 match.

It’s pretty obvious some of you let your national pride get in the way of reason. The truth is, he’s a small, fragile player who shows flashes of brilliance and lots of “meh.” He shouldn’t be treated differently than any other player that doesn’t live up to his price tag just because he is American.

I’m just tired of people propping this guy up more than he deserves simply because of where he was born.

Many major TV pundits agree with my assessment as well.

And many TV Pundits outside of this country disagree with you.

Health has been the biggest issue with Pulisic. When he is healthy, he has shown that he is a starter on a champions league squad. He's shown that for two top 4 squads so far... and he's only 24.
