I took a stab at the 35 player preliminary roster for the Gold Cup. This group would be whittled down to 23 for the Gold Cup, and I think you can replace players between group stage and knockout.

Goalkeepers (4)
Brad Guzan
Nick Rimando (only called in for the knockout stage?)
William Yarbrough
One of Hamid/Johnson/Cropper

Defenders (11)
John Brooks
Jermaine Jones
Brek Shea
DeAndre Yedlin
Matt Besler
Timothy Chandler
Michael Orozco
Greg Garza
Ventura Alvarado
Two of Tim Ream/Brad Evans/Omar Gonzalez

Midfielders (11)
Michael Bradley
Geoff Cameron
Fabian Johnson
Alejandro Bedoya
Mix Diskerud
Kyle Beckerman
Miguel Ibarra
Danny Williams
Alfredo Morales
Joe Corona
One of Benny Feilhaber/Lee Nguyen

Forwards (9)
Gyasi Zardes
Jozy Altidore
Juan Agudelo
Aron Johannsson
Julian Green
(Should be) Charlie Davies (will probably be Bobby Wood)
Clint Dempsey
Jordan Morris
Chris Wondolowski

depending on how strong the midfield ends up being these two might be taking spots on defense for the final 23.

I just don't see him calling in Feilhaber.

I agree. He *should*, but he won't. Same with Charlie Davies.

The only reason this one is important is because we won the 2013 one. If Mexico or another country had won and we won this year's then we would have to play that team in a one game playoff to determine who would go to the Confed Cup

If we take care of business and win this one then we automatically qualify.

Davies has looked really good lately. I've actually seen him show some bursts of speed that *almost* remind me of the old Charlie Davies.

Both winners play each other for the right to plan in the confed cup. If we win both we are automatically in.

Yeah, we can lose this Gold Cup but still qualify for the Confed Cup by beating this years winner at a later date.

Has Sacha just fallen off the map in regards to the USMNT? I thought he looked good in the NY game yesterday.

You can lump him in with Feilhaber, Nguyen and Davies as "probably nots" BECAUSE EUROPE.

Unless you're Miguel Ibarra.

He did a stinky leg the other day that made me weep with nostalgia. I miss CD and Stu.

What's crazy about Benny is, at least in the condenses matches I'm wathcing, he's doing real defensive work. He's got more grit to his game than I remember.

He's looked really, really good this year. And we know what he can go in Gold Cups.

Benny is the best no.10 playmaker in MLS imo, and you're absolutely right about his game having more grit. Since arriving in KC he has really upped his defensive game and now relishes trying to win the ball back. He should absolutely be called up and I think he even should have been in Brazil this past summer.
