He'd definitely be roughed up a lot more in the English game.

He's destroyed the English teams he's played in the CL, except for Chelsea. He is going to be fine.

Not at anfield :)

He would get the shite kicked out of him though. It's how teams dealt with Hazard and how they'll eventually deal with Pulisic. If you have elite close control on the dribble then you're going to get kicked to hell.

He played well that game. He created a couple of goalmouth chances from what I remember. The rest of the Barca team let him down, as they couldn't progress play to him until Arthur came on.

He should buy Old Boys, be player manager ´til infinity, and be done with it.

City and PSG are the only clubs that can afford his buyout... City is the likely landing spot, as of now, but if the fans can change his mind, he'll stay at Barca

I could see PSG. He seems in a not give a frick mode.

He needs to buy Newell's Old Boys, and be done with it.

What about this clause saying he can leave for free? Legit or not? Chelsea can afford free, otherwise it’s gonna be a reunion w Pep at City I’d think.

This one is probably going to be decided in court. He had a clause in his contract that said he would have to turn in his transfer notice by May 31st. That date would line up with the end of a normal season not the extended COVID season. Think about it, in May Barca still had hopes of winning Champions League. Would he want to turn in his notice then? With that does Barca want a nasty in court divorce or some sort of settlement. Barca even demanding a fraction of a buyout/transfer fee will probably really hurt the relationship of what should be Worldwide ambassador for their club.

Barca’s image is already in the garbage thanks to buying big names and falling short. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them take it to court.

Also starting to seem like PSG might have a better deal for Messi. They can afford him and wouldn’t put a clause in the contact sending him to the MLS after 3 seasons.

I don’t see anyway this doesn’t go to court.

Barca argue the clause expired so Messi cannot leave free. The expiration date of the clause was meant to coincide with the end of the season. With the extended Covid season and Barca still in the CL at the time, it would not have been reasonable for Messi to trigger it back in late May/early June nor did he have a reason to.

Will be interesting to see how it unfolds. I don’t think he goes to City if Barca win and require his fee be paid.

If a full fee is required by Barca they will lose their Global Ambassador for the club. Barca will blink.
