God that was sick. If we score a goal like that, ever, I will be ecstatic.

So our 3 opponents are coming off 6-1, 5-1, and 4-0 wins. The one positive I'll take away is barring the Czech Republic game to open the 2006 wc, we tend to not get embarrassed. The key will be to not concede early, and just hope to steal the games late
ETA: we looked invincible against a crappy Scotland team 5-1 in a friendly a couple of years back. Our next four results: L 4-1 vs Brazil, D 0-0 vs Canada, W 3-1 vs Antigua and Barbuda at home, and D 1-1 with Guatemala. So you never know

Any goals in the second half of friendlies should always be looked at with suspicion. No manager ever subs out a healthy defender, nor do managers normally replace a defensive midfielder for an attacking midfielder (i.e. Beckerman for Diskerud) when leading by a goal to nil.

Also, Ireland was not exactly bunkering or trying to limit the damage. They were treating it somewhat like a practice and trying to play positively. They exposed themselves continually, which no decent team would do against this Portugal side.
By the end, Portugal were playing with zero tension.
I'm glad we play them after they play Germany. Hopefully they will be a bit demoralized.
