Pitch in Manaus "in bad shape"

probably plays to our advantage b/c it will frick up dribbling/passing and negate the skill advantage of portugal/germany

Plus, we are used to those road WCQ in Central America.

It didn't look all that bad. Listening to Talksport on the radio today, those dude were way up in arms about it. The English are snobby as hell when stuff like this comes up. It will play the same for both teams. It may actually be an advantage for us. We should be used to shitty fields more than any of European teams, given our experiences of similar conditions playing in Concacaf away games.

I have not been to Europe, you're right, but I highly doubt European qualifiers are played in as rough conditions as we are forced to. The venues for some of these shite hole Concacaf games in places like Honduras, Costa Rica, Jamaica, etc are surely worse than what European teams deal with in their qualifiers. I may be wrong though.

I'm not clueless man, I'm learning the game and I've followed it closely for the better part of the last decade. I post my opinions and I love discussing this stuff with you guys. Depends on the team and its style of play. But most clubs give the pitch some water pregame but nothing too much.

You are wrong. The Euro qualifiers, Africa, Asia even South American all have just as bad pitches.

They are, and it will, but the English probably benefit the least for bitching about it since they only play the technically superior Italians on it. No one wants to watch the game played on a cow pasture though it's annoying to see Manaus referenced as a town in the middle of nowhere

And comparing this pitch to places you may have to play in qualifying is totally wrong, this is the fricking world cup, the pitches should be close to perfect, this looks like a half patche dup Sunday League pitch.

I said nothing about it being acceptable that the pitch is in bad shape. Of course each stadium that is holding games should have an immaculate playing surface. I was just saying that the US team could have a slight advantage because of the familiarity of playing in shitty conditions throughout the qualifying process.
