Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has dismissed the theory that the Premier League is the most intense league in the world.

"I hear a lot of times about the intensity of the Premier League when none of you have been in La Liga or the Bundesliga to know how it is," Guardiola said.

"The problem here is maybe that there are more games but the way that they play in Germany is... [whistles]... it's amazing. I think you have to have respect for the other leagues, how they play and the way they play.

"I think every league has its points but especially it's the quality of the players and that's the reason why. In Spain in the last seven, eight, nine years they're winning or in the final of all the European competitions because they play well because they have good players. That is the reason why.

PL is more intense because in La Liga Barca has only two teams to worry about challenging them and in Bund BM usually has no teams to worry about challenging them.

PL clubs cannibalise themselves through more competitiveness and more physical play.

Pep is a bitch.

No, the difference is the best teams in the Premier League are average where as in Spain, Germany, and now Italy with Juventus, the best teams are great.

No, they're great because they play in less competitive leagues.

Let BM play a full year of PL and CL at the same time and lets really see just how great they are.

PL is the SEC, Bund is the Big 10, La Liga is the PAC 12.

He posted that Bayern has no one challenging them the day after they tied Eintracht Frankfurt.

This year has been incredibly tight in the Bundesliga and La Liga

Pep can say whatever he wants but anyone who watches the big 4 leagues can use their own eyes and come to the conclusion that the Prem is easily the most physical of the 4.

That doesn't change my point at all.

FWIW, the Premier League and Bundesliga have both had 4 different champions over the past decade so that's one hell of a point you just made.

He's right. The biggest difference is scheduling. The PL doesn't nothing to curb that, and attempts to pass it off as a function of physical play. I mean, Atletico Madrid is by some orders of magnitude more physical than any team in the PL, and has been for some time. It's not as if other teams in other leagues aren't physical. It's that the English think physical play is distinct from technical play, but that isn't the case. Look at Bayern from 2012. They were physical and technical, and they raped teams. The English use physical play as an excuse as to why they can't have technical play.

Prem:

2012-13 Man United
2013-14 Man City
2014-15 Chelsea
2015-16 Leicster

Bundesliga:
2012-13 Bayern
2013-14 Bayern
2014-15 Bayern
2015-16 Bayern

You all can spin all you want, no one thinks the Bundesliga is that competitive.

Not only have Bayern won the title all of those years, but most have been by like 8+ points. It hasn't even been close.

Well in 2012 they had one of the greatest teams we have ever seen. In 2013-2016 they had one of the best coaches ever. It's highly likely they would win the BPL by that margin each year as well, given that most top EPL teams aren't that good. I don't know why people take issue with that either. The standard of play is some ways down from the high point of 2006-2010. It might be swinging back though.

Manchester City competed and even beat several of those teams in that span in the UCL so I completely disagree that they would run away with the EPL.

But would Celtic win the league every year?
