It blows my mind that people could have watched the Premier League over the last few years and thought that Bayern, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Juventus would not have dominated that league. Just inconceivable to me.

They probably would. Chelsea and Man United have been pretty poor, even that Chelsea team that won the title, which has to be one of the worst title winning teams the EPL has had. Arsenal and Man City would have given them games, but the EPL isn't all that deep, nor is the depth of its technical play all that dazzling. Most EPL teams struggle in possession and can't break down teams at all.

You laugh, but the last four years has been pretty substandard in terms of patterns of play, across the league. Chelsea were great for a half a season, then coasted to a title, and then realized what a liability Fabregas was. Man United has been poor for a while, and were utterly terrible under LVG. Arsenal can match teams on the ground but are positionally clueless. Man City struggled with spacing as well as finding a midfield partnership that allowed their creative players to create rather than defend. I think the performances in Europe reflect this as well.

So this is the narrative? The Bundesliga is actually as competitive as the Prem because Bayern is a super club that would dwarf all other EPL clubs?

It's like no league goes through a down period. It happens and is completely normal. Either you are on the edge of the tactical game or you aren't. The English are behind.

The pattern of play for mid-table clubs is higher. Germany produces better players in general. It has a better youth system, more interesting tactical arrangements, and emphasizes attacking play. Mid-table teams in the EPL are really bad usually.

I mean they're also 2-0 in the UCL, including a win over Porto. They aren't exactly some shite side.

Yeah they are. They've been terrible this year. They've given up 14 goals in 8 games. They beat fricking Club Brugge in the CL.
The league in general was awful last year. Again, teams in the EPL can't break down the low block, and always struggle in possession. How can people deny this? This is literally why LC won last year with three fricking losses. Because they actively sought to maximize possession by not being drawn out unless it led to a goal scoring opportunity.

Spain is the best, obviously. Germany and Italy still blow and last year's aberration aside the PL is easily the second best league.

I just don't personally believe that Bayern, Real or Barca would just run rampant and make a mockery out of the EPL. Could they win the league, even multiple years in a row? I mean yeah, obviously but the dominance would be nothing like Bayern's over the last several years. The league was a fricking cake walk for them and they had shite wrapped up by like March.
I'd take the top seven in the EPL over the top seven in the bundesliga any day. Spain I do believe is more top heavy than any other league though.

I didn't go that far but some edgy hipsters on here were acting like they were having the GOAT window.
Yet here we are 20% through the season and they are behind such giants as Leipzeg, Koln, and Hertha.
They are keeping pace with Hoffenheim though so they have that going for them.
