It would be defend left. You're the keeper facing the other way.

Keeper has to guess. The best is high and hard straight down the middle.

Not every time though. Kash only, read the Soccernomics chapter about this. I think you would be very interested. There is some data in there.

Down the middle is a little more successful, but kicking truly random is ideal.

No he doesnt, there is atleast 1 or 2 penalties every shootout, and often in game penalties that are very savable if the keeper waits.

So many are weak and nowhere near the corner, look at Messis today? If the GK hold his nerve that is an easy save, how many are put down the middle? Guessing means you can make some saves that are in the corner by having the head start but its infuriating watching shite pens roll down the middle because the keeper has no nerve.


Robbens dot chart is a thing of beauty though, I think his CL final must be the worst he's hit, top quality placement
