Objectively, what do you think?

First one: no chance in hell was that a penalty.

Second one: I didn't think so, but I have seen softer penalties called in games all over the world.

That Moreno guy is a homer who should be ignored at all times, but I take Ian Darke seriously.

Second one was an absolute stone cold PK in my eyes.

alexi just said it. sometimes you need a little luck. we got the luck we needed on that second no call because it was definitely a penalty.

Yeah, my natural bias is a preference for fewer penalties to be called. Curious to see what others thought.

Could make a case for both. The second was probably a penalty, but I'm not going to analyze it. I'll enjoy it more if I think that Mexico got fricked.

I am definitely in the minority, but I thought that Moreno was pretty fair.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of PKs in games like that (close matches), but that was a PK every time. If that was against the US, we'd be going nuts.

Thought the ref was very good before the penalty. He was fair and didn't fall for embellishment.

I could see the second one going either way. I was surprised that it went the way it did.

Second one was. I think it wasn't called partially bc the dude flopped and acted too much. It looked to me he over acted.

Edu didn't even come close to the ball on the second one.

i can definitely see that. when they go to ground when they are hit by a stiff breeze, the ref has to have that in the back of his mind. writhing around like you just had your leg cut off by a handsaw can't help either.

First not a penalty, second should have been a penalty.

Mexico would have missed it anyway.

Om the second one im not sure the ref saw whose foot the ball came off of and when u see it pop out lkke it did im sure he assumed the defender got a touch on the ball bsfore the contact.

I didn't see a good angle on the second one. I couldn't tell if it was a true tackle or a clash of bodies. Either way, the attacker didn't do himself any favors with the forward flop. The force of the tackle would take him backwards in that situation.

Second one for sure, but the first was a good no call

As someone who has been injured numerous times in soccer, the last thing I would do if injured is ROLL ON THE HURT LEG OVER AND OVER. I would NEVER give somebody the benefit of the call if they keep flopping on the hurt leg. Its an embellishment and mexico is known for it. That said, it was a PK. frick landscaping -

What about the foul called on Dempsey in their box on the header near-miss off a corner? I thought that was a terrible call at the moment but didn't get a clear view of replay. Didn't think he was off either.
