His motivational tactics only work for so long until people realize he has the tactical acumen of an autistic goldfish. Even after that was obvious, Gulati let him keep his job for a couple of years. Then Bruce went all limpdick on everyone. Jesus, I'm so mad.
Jurgen seems to be a shallow "cheerleader" but he isnt the reason this team didnt qualify for the 2018 WC. I think everyone here deep down inside understands this. This player pool and core from 2014 was absolutely pathetic and holds all the blame for where this team landed.
Take away everything else that happened this cycle and all these fricks sticks had to do was beat Panama and draw Trinidad and Tobago. It never mattered who was managing this group. They proved who they are tonight.
Hopefully its a learning experience for US soccer moving forward. I laugh at everyone who mocked Jurgen when he wished these core players would have stayed in Europe to ply their trade in better leagues instead of coming home to the MLS. Correlation is there for anyone willing to be objective.

As natural as it is for an American kid to instinctively know how to shoot a basketball, throw a football, or have a game of catch with a baseball, it is equally unnatural for an American kid to know how to handle a soccer ball. It's that simple. And that's why the US fails.
:mind blown:
The difference is that the average athlete here doesn't have a soccer ball at his feet constantly.
I watched a 5 year old Mexican kid in U6 warmups the other night playing his 8 year old brother, and it was mind-blowing. That's happening throughout the rest of the world I assume. You can't replicate that with a $1,000 soccer camp.

but I'm not a fanatic like a lot of people on this board are, so I can step away and see the total disparity in natural talent between US players and pretty much the rest of the world
"I don't like soccer as much as you guys do, so I analyze and understand it better." Alright, king.

In the US, our kids get their first soccer ball when they are 6, 7, 8, 10, etc.
Not always.

And their first coach is usually someone who has never played.
Not usually for the kids who actually end up playing at a high level.

Gulati deserves a flare to his face.

You're greatly over exaggerating how hard it is to qualify for a WC. Our talent pool is mostly shite, but it's better than every other CONCACAF team outside of Mexico and 3 motherfrickers get an auto bid. If you want to blame the talent pool for us not advancing out of the group stage, sure. But qualifying? Nah, that doesn't fly.

That would be like firing a national title winning coach and putting one of the lowest SEC winning percentage coaches in history in his place.
ETA - in no way am I trying to imply that Sunil is a title winning level person, just the drop off to absurdity and failure would be similar.

I agree the players suck, and I used to defend JK, but he absolutely put us in a bad spot and gave his successor little room for error.
Competent management from the beginning of the Hex would have us solidly in the top 3. That's on JK.

Look, it just happened. With two different managers. It isnt like Arena just walked in for this week. All he had to do was beat Panama and draw T&T....
Its clear who shoulders the blame here. Will people own it because they are so invested in "the manager is bad therefore the team was bad" this player pool this cycle holds like 95% of the blame the way I see it

This team is on 12 points in 10 matches with the latest being a must at least draw resulting in in a fricking LOSS TO T&T.
This team sucked this cycle and it didnt matter who was managing. As long as folks focus on Jurgen as the culprit we are not gonna learn squat from this shite show.

They didn't give a flying F U C K all game. I'm melting harder than the UCLA loss. Fire fricking everybody. Nuke that shite from orbit.

Nobody other than you is focusing on Jurgen. Everyone is saying the players suck, but you are using it to defend Jurgen, when really it was both. They both sucked.

Hendersonshands sounds like fricking Christ on the mount right now. Spitting truth like a god damned messiah.

I have been saying since the beginning of the cycle we have bigger problems than the manager. The knee-jerk response here was always Jurgen put us in this position. That's a bunch of hooey.
Hopefully, folks see the light. US Soccer needs an enema. US soccer was more worried about its tier 1 domestic league that it just failed to qualify for the WQ out of fricking CONCACAF in the process.
What happened is an indictment of US soccer as well as the MLS and the player core/pool. Would never have mattered who managed this group this cycle.
All we can do is hope the right lessons were learned this cycle by the powers that be in US SOccer.
