Only thing in his defense is he was not diving and rolling around trying to get calls or cards just laying there trying to disrupt the game.
Uh, he spent 6 minutes of game time "injured." LINK
Hint: he clearly wasn't injured.
It was pretty disgraceful, and the fact you try to justify it along some arbitrary continuum is pretty hypocritical, considering some of your other statements. He was trying to waste time, and disrupt the flow of the game.

I'm not justifying it is lame but it's not as bad as flopping and rolling around screaming trying to get fellow professionals carded or sent off.

There is really no way to argue otherwise a blatant intentional foul from behind to try and stop a breakaway after robbed easily cruised past him again.

It was in the damned 70th minute. The Netherlands would have been playing 15 minutes with ten, and 35-39 minutes with nine.
I think a red card at that point in the match would have been of absolutely no effect as to the outcome of the match, don't you?

Says the Euro-trash whose contribution to the board is to repeatedly post pictures of young Spanish boys in homo-erotic poses and the "fan" with 15 favorite teams. Forgive me if I'm not offended.

Idiot. I have three. Look down and you can see them, in order.
I won't apologize to some troll who thinks he's better than everyone else. I am a fan of two European teams and a MLS team. Your opinion is virtually worthless on here, so I really don't care what you think.

No need to apologize you are just young and misguided.

I am a better fan of my team yes, because I only have one.
The sad irony is that you guys really do love soccer and want so badly for it to grow in this country. However, it's the sissy European attitude that you, and so many other, "soccer" elitists feel like you have to exhibit that is the exact reason it won't catch on as a mainstream sport here. 2010 WC Final reaction is a perfect example.

Please, please, please explain this, because I don't know what the heck you're talking about.
Me, elitist? You're the one parading around calling yourself "better"!

WC 2010, just using this as an example since it came up in this thread. One team, team A, plays hard, commits a few fouls, one really bad one. The other team, team B, flops, dives, and rolls around all game trying to get calls and brandishing imaginary cards at the referee. The average American is going to side with the team putting it out there doing whatever it takes to win the game, the average Euro-soccer person is going to side with team B because they play "beautifully" and defend their actions as "part of the game". Until that attitude toward soccer changes the average American is not going to embrace it.

You're a soccer elitist. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that, it just encompasses a mentality toward sport I don't possess. I am a better fan of my team because my loyalties are not being divided which allows me to invest more emotion into them.

I don't like Spain. I don't like their style of football. I cheered for the Dutch in the 2010 WC Final. Spain got screwed somewhat yesterday.
Please insert another coin to try again.

Liking Spain isn't really the point. The point is the mindset of a "soccer person". A lot of people were rooting for the Netherlands in that final and a lot of those same people were the ones whining incessantly about them afterwards. Maybe you weren't one of those people but you know what I'm talking about.
Posted on 7/30/12 at 9:21 pm to RandySavage
OK, but I don't see how that applies to me.
And it's funny that you are whining about people like me not helping the popularity of soccer in America...I'm a fan of our own domestic league, and you think that's dumb.
