Competition and squad rotation are good. If used correctly. Id love a completely different starting XI for Europa.

I think a fresh Ibe super sub would work great a lot of games.

This also means we should be strong in captual one and fa cup.

I want to win this. And I want to win Europa. We have the depth to go far in both comps and maintain a challenge for 4th.

Flip side, we crash and burn and Klopp arrives in January...

I'm one of the few that actually likes Europa... I like seeing us play against other competition outside of England.

With the winner getting a place in the UCL now, I think it's even more important and IMO, has jumped any domestic cup results...

edit: especially now that we actually have quality depth in our squad

Too bad Brenden has proven to be TOTALLY inept in Europe.

We'll crash out before the knockout rounds regardless of depth.

There's that Arkans-arse positivity we all know and love!

C'mon, bud... Have some hope! (Although I do agree, hope is about all there is to go on as of right now regarding his use of talent.)

Fool me once...

Fool me twice..

I don't recall a single legit performance in Europe from a Rodgers side. Not one. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I love this team, just not sure about the manager as long term. We shall see.

I am with ya, just had to give you some hell. I really am excited that there is a possibility that the talent we brought in could easily overshadow his... Issues.

He's had two seasons in Europe, right? You gotta build on something...

Lost on away goals to Zenit in '13

Last years UCL was a disaster and lost on pens to Besiktas in Europa..

I don't think he has established enough of a European track record to start that kind of mantra...

All that said, I'm not saying I'm convinced he will do anything, but it's a new season... we're alive on all fronts, so I will choose to stay someone positive... unless he insists on Lovren! If that's the case, I'm feeling out Klopp in Sept.

I'm holding out hope for Lovren. He was better towards the end of the year

I still hope Lucas plays in front of him if he does start, and I'll probably throw a chair when he inevitably screws up, but I have hope damnit

He's usually good to give away at least one or two free kicks away, at the edge of the area, each game...

god dammit, the hog has got me all negative now... positive thoughts... positive thoughts...

The problem is that our summer work has been really good with quality signings at key positions. And just when I think everyone was really on the cautiously optimistic level we get Lovren over Sakho thrust in our face by our manager who has proven he has no idea how to set a proper back four. But I still hold out hope that Lovren can turn this thing around and I do love our attack. We are definitely better than when we ended last season.

So ESPNFC is reporting that Borini is apparently going to La Viola/Fiorentina.

Because the teams are meeting and what not. I hate ESPN. Not sure why I even watch them. I guess I am institutionalized.

Damn some family stuff has come up that I can't get around. Will be on a long delay to watch the game Sunday evening probably.

So... This article summarizes my feeling on lovren vs sakho....

quote:

Skrtel and Sakho were selected alongside each other just once in the six pre-season matches Liverpool played this summer (seven if you include that weird training session that morphed into an unscheduled game) while the Slovakian has played next to Dejan Lovren on four occasions. It seems apparent that this has been done by design and that the manager is going to subject us all to watching a reunion of the Lovren and Skrtel partnership that had us tearing our hair out throughout the early months of last season. The only other alternative is that the manager of Liverpool Football Club thought that his two best centre backs only needed 45 pre-season minutes together before the new Premier League campaign began. To be frank, I’m not sure which scenario would be more damning of Rodgers. I’ll do my best to prevent this from devolving into a rambling, scathing hatchet job on Lovren, but quite how there is any debate around who should be partnering Skrtel at Stoke and beyond is unfathomable to me. In fact, for me, the question I’d be asking would actually be ‘who deserves to partner Mamadou Sakho this season?’

Get a friend's cable login info to watch on NBCSN's website.

With the continued instince that Lovren start, O/U on number of weeks before BR is shown the door? However long it takes for Klopp to learn Scouse via Rosetta Stone?

Ive seen a lot of migs, clyne, skrtel, lovren, gomez, milner, hendo, coutinho, lallana, ibe, benteke... 4231 or 433

But I've also read Firmino is now in contention...

Regardless, I think he eventually will be in the first 11 once he's deemed "ready"

On another note, reading Werner's latest interview... he says BR had a big say in the transfers and they expect improvement... Reading between the lines, I think it's definitely put up or shut up time... will he make it back december? I hope so, because that means we're playing well... I have my doubts.
