Agreed, he was fantastic... I hope we get him some real help back there, because he could be the foundation of a solid back line moving forward

Lovren has been very good lately. Clyne had a howler today, but is consistently one of our best players. Can is picking up the destroyer role but he needs to work on his touch and his ability as a holding midfielder. I still think Moreno has potential, but he's obviously a weak point. Mignolet has his moments. Add Matip.

We have the foundations for a young, solid back line

And to think Sakho couldn't even see the field under Rodgers. Thank God he is gone; our future is bright.

I know we really didn't want to see them until possibly the final... but I am looking forward to a home and away with them... better than a neutral site..

They'll be favorites, but far from invincible..

We're not on Dortmund's level. I'll hold out hope, but the Spanish sides and Shaktar or probably favored to win the whole thing over us as well

Well, the first game is in Germany. Let's get some road goals.

Dortmund eh? Well, we were going to have to face someone good at some point. While I would have rather faced them in the final, I'm really looking forward to this tie!

I had to change my shorts after Cou's goal.

Future is so bright for us.

It feels like 2007 again to me. Not worried about drawing Dortmund. If anyone knows how to prepare for them.... If we want to be big boys, we have to play them at some point..

I almost feel sorry for the Mancs, actually no I don't, but god their team is completely shite. If we would have had Klopp all season, no doubt in my mind we'd trade places in the league with them.

I am sort of glad we get them now. We are playing well, no significant injuries and they would be the biggest obstacle left. I would rather have that test now instead of adding extra games because while it is a long shot, we can still qualify through 4th in the league. 7 off of City with a game in hand and 9/10 games to go. Crazier things have happened.

Can was immense yesterday. Yes, he had some errant passes, but when we were under pressure, he was a great DM for us.

He also led several counter-attacked in the second half which should have led to another goal.

Sakho was the MOTM for me - did everything, interceptions, tackles, clearances. Covered for Milner, who had a tendency to roam a bit more in defense than you would like.

I'm not sure what to make of Studge - he didn't seem happy to score last week and he was not smiling at all yesterday. I'm sure he doesn't want to be taken off, but he's definitely not ready for a high entisity 90 minutes yet.

Schwiensteiger was lucky that wasn't red - high tackle and a big swipe well after and behind the ball. Slight beuckle to Lallanas knee too - Lalanna is lucky he wasn't hurt.

People forget Can is 22.

So much time to develop as a DM.

I really hope we beat Dortmund and klopp does some recruiting while we're hammering them so next year we can have Reus on roster

But seriously I think this is a great match up to test our defense. Dortmunds attacking 3 are the best we'll probably see and their connection they have with each other is close to MSN connection. Also I think we're both in excellent form and klopp knows everything about all the players on their squad. We will be super prepared and klopp will for sure have our boys amped up for the games.

He has made a lot of strides the past couple of months in that role... where previously, he seemed to show a tendency to stray... or actually played as a B2B

He is so strong.. if he can stay disciplined, he could be immense... I though he was outstanding in shielding the back 4 yesterday

This tie with BVB should tell us a lot about where we need to improve and recruit players for next season

Supposedly we are scouting Jonathan tah from leverkesen. Supposed to be a young CB that will be world class. Just got his first Germany call-up. That would be tremendous.

He's a monster and up there with Gimenez/Marquinhos/Varane/Laporte as one of the top rated young CBs..

He'd be great... I'd get rid of Kolo and prob Skrtel or Lovren... Cant believe I'm going to say this, but Id prob ship out Skrtel over Lovren..

Sakho and Tah, with Matip and Lovren would be ok... Gomez coming back from injury... May mean theres no room for Ilori either..

Firmino withdrawn from Brazil squad due to injury
