Does Lallana?

Very much so. Hated the buy originally. Absolutely love it now.

Real looked mediocre tonight, the class of players told the difference.

Nothing major occured to say it was an absolute drubbing, but Pool looked pretty weak.

Balotelli is not for yáll. Whatsoever.

I don´t know what to say as to your side going forward, but I´d be concerned.

Honestly, perfect assessment. Madrid took the foot off the pedal, and we certainly didn't look like we should have lost by three goals, but if Real would've kept on the gas it could've been 5 or 6.

Bleed... It may change (and I hope so), but it looks like your initial feel was right about Lovren...

But he looks so awful at times.. He was not this bad at SOTON...

I have not watched Hull at all, didn't they buy pretty well this summer? Or am I thinking of someone else?

I'd also be willing to call back Ilori and give him a shot in Jan

And I was thinking about Ilori too. I know a lot of people talk about Origi, but I would be willing to give Ilori a chance

Has anyone been keeping up with Ilori this season?

Just rewatched the second half. Was much more impressed the second go around. That was the first time in a long time we put a team under siege at the death. It seems we've found our best 11 until Studge is back. When Lambert and Cou came on we exploded forward.

I rewatched the match as well, and I agree with your assessment. My initial knee jerk reaction was utter disappointment, particularly in Balotelli. To be fair he played well as far as creating chances, but his job still comes down to scoring goals. If he can't do that, then he doesn't need to be here.

Countinho should be starting.

I was disappointed too, but I still like Balotelli... I think he will eventually come good once we get our players and identity back... I gotta imagine with the media scrutiny and pressure to score goals, it's probably too much for him.. I remember when we signed him, his agent saying he didn't want to be the main man/leader, like he was at Milan. I guess some people don't have the make up for that..

Hopefully once we get Daniel back, can get some wins under our belt, the pressure will ease up and he can get back to doing what he does best...

I agree on Coutinho... the past few games he has come on as a sub and really made an impact... Id like to see that from the start, as opposed to later in games...

He was poor in the WC being the only man up top, yet played much better in the Euros when paired with someone. Makes me wonder why BR hasn't paired him with someone. Atleast put Borini out there to make the CB's work. It shouldn't come as a shock that Balo doesn't make runs so we need someone who does.

It seems Coutinho struggled to find his form early this season. I think Rodgers handled this situation by using him as a sub, and so far it seems to be working. I think he's ready to start again.

Borini or Lambert. Just give Balotelli someone to help him out.

Spot on from Carra

Will be interesting to see the lineup today. I really don't give a crap about the Carling Cup, but going against a solid side, it's a chance to get a lot of guys who have struggled a little bit of a rhythm, while giving some of our other players a needed rest.

I think BR went with the "best 11" strategy, rather than the "what works best for Balo" one... It wasn't that effective, obviously...

I agree Cou was out of form somewhat, but I get the feeling the Lallana MAY be his guy (expensive signing), and he will be his favorite.... I could be way off on this, but thats what I see.

I hope Markovic (and Suso) starts, because thats the only way he will get acclimated to this league.. And yes I want to win, but Id be OK experimenting/resting and giving experience to guys, knowing the risk of bowing out early...

Jones; Manquillo, Lovren, Toure, Johnson; Lucas, Hendo, Coutinho, Markovic; Lambert, Borini

Looks like a diamond to me.

ETA: Mignolet, Moreno, Skrtel, Lallana, Can, Rossiter, and Balotelli on the bench.

I'm glad both Gerrard and Sterling are sitting this one out. They both need the rest.
