This Moreno business is killing me. It's on this morning and now it looks like it's off, he would have been a huge get for us.

If we strike out on Moreno I'm going to start to worry. He would've been a huge landing at a crucial position. That news is disasterous if true.

I'm not so certain it isn't some negotiation strategy. We pulled away a first time too due to their asking price and I think they found not other suitors for that price.

I look at this as a positive development that we aren't going to overpay what we think he's worth just cause we got $uarezed.

Of course the other side of my says to pay the extra 2 or whatever million and lock down our left side!

I absolutely understand not overpaying but if it truly is 2 million dollars to get him I don't understand the hold up. Moreno is our number one defensive target at our biggest position of need, I hope to hell this is a negotiating strategy. I appreciate having a plan B but if I had to pick between Moreno and Davies it's Moreno, unless you can convince me that the extra 8 or 9 million is going to get us someone of quality. I still can't believe we're going into CL without Suarez, unbelievable. I've been extremely happy with the window so far I just hope we finish strong.

Who linked the download that merged the schedule into your google calendar last year? I need that again. Just saw on Facebook that we had a friendly tonight and I didn't even know.

No clue how to do that so not sure I could help with that.

As far as Moreno, I understand the extra couple million begins to add up and we don't want to be seen like pushovers where you can automatically add a few million to the price tag if we come calling for transfers. But if it's true that we already had a bid of around £8m rejected for Davies, then we'd have to pay an extra couple million anyway for either player. So would you rather pay an extra couple million for your first or second target? Answer seems obvious to me.

I agree and can only assume that what we are calling a couple million is more like 5-10.

That 5 to 10 million and pushover argument is legit. I think as a fan I just get caught up in my club getting the better player and tend to throw "a couple of million" around like hubcaps. That being said I REALLY think Moreno being in this already stellar group is almost essential.

Definitely would rather Moreno and by an extra 2 million I was assuming we had already raised our price to meet theirs (meaning it was 4-5 million more than we validated him). Now a smart play would be put Davies name out there and see if they came down on Moreno price. If not u have to make a decision but the extra 10-15 saved better help buy a stud.

I hope we arent squabbling over a couple of million now that we have the Suarez money.. I realize other teams already know this and will try to squeeze us, but nows the time to get UCL quality players... Lets get it done!

edit: I mean, I like the players we have brought in, but I dont want to just sign SOTON and Swansea players... I realize it may take some sustained success, both on the field and with the revenue stream to attract the Vidals/Sanchez/di Maria's of the world.. rant over..

I think we're still caught in between finding the cheap diamonds in the rough and not quite being able to afford the world class players, so we're trying to get guys that are proven with low wages, and that may still have some room to grow and develop to help out our long term vision, Lambert excluded, but he was a good value buy IMO.

If a lot of these young guys we have pan out, we could be sitting in a very good position in a few years with a strong core, good depth through the academy up and comers, and spending more on quality players without having to worry as much about stringing our budget out for multiple players for better depth.

First preseason game about to be underway. I believe it might be on NBC extra. I don't think I'll be able to watch live, but hopefully the replay will be available.

I'm going to the Liverpool game in Chicago and was wondering if y'all think the World Cup players will play any in that game? I know they report on the 20th, but still wasn't sure. I saw them play in Boston two years ago and the Gerrard and co. were there but they didn't dress out.

I doubt they play, maybe Lambert since he reported early...

I'll be there too kinda wish I was doing NYC and Boston again, too..

I'm in Chicago right now and I hope this low 70s weather holds up until then...

Boston & Baltimore were a blast a couple of years ago! So glad FSG bought them and has tried to increase their exposure in the USA... While I'd love to go to to Asia for a pre-season tour.. it just isnt in the cards money/time wise..

Brondby up 1-0 in the 23rd minute... Suso with a piss poor clearance at the top of the 18... he served one up to them on a plate..
