Reus. Two years younger.

which would you guys prefer, reus or Vidal?
Please. It's not close IMO.

Reus.

p. interesting no one has picked vidal, who was probably the best all around central mid in the world last year. you guys could use that a lot. reus is great, but you need a great midfielder a lot more than a great attacker right now.

I tend to agree with you on that, that's why I asked. I think time will tell, depending on if we are able to score a healthy amount of goals or if we maybe still struggle with conceding. A strong all around midfield presence like Vidal would be a huge help.

I'd take Vidal over Reus. I know we lost a significant amount of goals when Suarez left, but part of helping that loss is improving defense, and Vidal would do that. And he's not impotent going forward either.

That said, I'm seeing Lovren is a done deal, as well as Origi, and that Origi is going to be loaned back to Lille for the season.

Makes sense if Borini is going to stay and play out the final year of his contract.

I'd take Vidal... Though I understand the Reus argument too!

Edit: though I'd probably go Pogba over both... If nothing else, for the epic troll job on ManUre...

I just want to add that I really don't know anything about either Vidal or Reus.

I'm happy for Lovren... Many SOTON fans think he's the biggest loss of this offseason for them.. He was very good last season.

No love for the Croatian, eh? Everything that I've seen and read about him seems to indicate he would be one of the most important signings of the summer. That said, I've never paid specific attention to him on the field. I'm curious as to what you don't like about him?

He can't play both sides. At least not effectively. Which means we just paid 20 million for a backup to Sakho. Also, outside of his terrific ability in one on one situations his stats are remarkably average.

Yeah, I'm not thrilled about the price tag either. At £20m there had better be immediate, and drastic improvement in the goals allowed statistic.

I think most lineups I've seen had him alongside Sakho. I sure hope you're wrong about that one!

What? I hope he's just never been given the chance at the other side?

Meaning that he defense well in space? Is that what you're saying? Because as much space as we give up when we attack, that may be a good thing and a huge reason we brought him in. Our other defenders get turned around, give up more open shots that we'd want, and make bad decisions when presented with attackers in space.

I still think the problem with the defense lies squarely upon the shoulders of the fullbacks. Johnson was a shite show out there, and we never really had a replacement for Enrique. Now Enrique is back, but will he be good enough? Probably not.

A proper defensive mid couldn't hurt either.

I think he can play on the right....
