Looking so good so far. Got a little nervous before the game when it became clear we'd go top with a win, but they're fricking fired up and playing some beautiful football. I'm loving it

Sucks to not keep a clean sheet, but hey top of the table now boys

Yea not sure what that was on the goal
Henderson left Janmaat wide open and didn't even help close down the ball. He was just in no man's land
Nearly perfect match otherwise

yeah, clean sheets are nice... but, whatever...
Score 6 and I don't care...
Klopp has the attack sorted out, gotta imagine he cleans up the defense next (Jan/Summer)

Our attack is scary good right now
Watford had 3 clean sheets in a row prior to this match and we just blew them away

@TonyBarrett The Kop singing "If we still had Suarez, he'd be on the bench." Obviously tongue in cheek. I think!

He may not be the best, but I think Bobby is the most complete forward in the EPL... does it all really!

i tend to agree.... and watching Lallana, Firminio, and Cou, then seeing Sturridge, you can see why he's not on the pitch more... he lacks the situational awareness and work rate that everyone else has... wants to just hang around the goal and try to strong foot it in.... gotta work harder and be smarter and more all around sound to get on the field for Klopp...
that being said, i am extremely proud to be a Red today... clean sheet would have been the cherry, but at the same time, i'm not gonna cry about conceding 1 goal when we bang 6 home... great, great game by our guys today... gotta maintain it...

I thought Sturridge's work rate, and positional awareness was totally on point today when he came on. He was immediately involved, and finding space, and putting shots on target. He's a striker, and he does all the things a striker should do. But we see now that having quality strikers (Sturridge + Origi) is surplus to Klopp's scheme. His scheme requires a complete forward, and is exactly what Firmino is. He is the fulcrum of the attack, and his skill set is more diverse to what Daniel & Divock can offer. But Firmino is no #9. And he's not supposed to be one either.
In other words, it's nice to have options!

I agree... I think Daniel has a part to play in this team and is a different look/option... he's still so dangerous... he was very good today and could have easily had two or three...
The big question is, will he be satisfied being a part time starter... I think he'll (and Origi) be needed when Mane is gone for ACN...

Totally? No.
Improved? Yes.
To be "totally on point" you need to look like Bobby Firmino in Klopp's scheme.

I just don't know what else you could possibly expect from a striker
Except goals, of course. He may not have gotten any today, but he was directly responsible for the sixth. And let's not forget, the last time he started a football match he got a brace.

Because the 4-3-3 that Klopp is using doesn't require a "striker".
It requires forwards and wingers that can attack and press on defense and rotate and move in space on offense.
That's where Sturridge continues to fall short. He puts in effort at times, but not 100% of the time. And he still thinks and moves like a "striker".
Klopp has two options with Sturridge: either (1) change the offense to center only and solely on Sturridge at the "striker" position he is comfortable with or (2) continue to use Sturridge as a bench player and hope he provides some value while on the pitch.
We can easily see so far this season which option Klopp believes holds more value to the team.

Which is exactly what I'm saying. He and Origi are "surplus". Correct: we play a 4-3-3. But sometimes you need to be able pivot into a 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1. Sometimes the original plan doesn't work. Firmino isn't always going to be absolutely amazing. Sometimes you need a full on striker. And no manager is immune to being figured out. Hence, it's good to have options.

we don't really play with wingers...
edit: not in this current formation at least..
