I really like Jacksonville, by the way. I had only known the horrible parts from the world´s largest outdoor cocktail party back in the 80´s.
Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, have a good vibe.

Beaches Town Center is an awesome area (on Atlantic Blvd where Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach meet). I live in Neptune Beach.
Jax area gets a bad rep mostly for the reason you mentioned and because people expect the beaches to be something they're not. The beach communities here (except for Ponte Vedra) are more grittier blue collar towns where people actually live and work everyday, and I love that. It's not a tailor made tourist destination for people from Arkansas that want to pretend they're in the tropics like some other beach "towns" are.

Exactly where this occurred. Between the little hotel on the right and the large one on the left (maybe one is actually condominiums, I don´t know).
I stayed in Neptune Beach, cannot remember the street now, right on the beach (very nice house, I might add, this friend of hers is loaded).
Cool, funky vibe around there (hipsterish, college townish a bit, pretty laid back).
The home we were in was super art deco, however.

The big hotel on the left is One Ocean. Super nice hotel, but really reasonable rates depending on time of year, etc. I have family that stays there when they come in town.
Eat at Flying Iguana (if you didn't already) next time. Really good tacos. It's sort of a mishmash of Peruvian (and some other latin influences) and Southern food.

We ate at:
-Some place with a M in it (M bar, maybe?).
-The Fish Camp or something similar (right across the street from the bar/restaurant with a campy name but very good)
-The campy named place. Ragtime?
-The place behind the Fish Camp or whatever it´s called (that place sucked).
-Some three level seafood/take out place on the main road in (had oysters here on the third level).
-Blue something or other (a bar, had two dozen oysters there).
We also ate at the Pontevedra hotel a few times (her company held some events there).
I enjoyed the green room, or whatever it´s called, as well.
There is some serious quality beer made in Jaxville (tried four or five from there, including Ragtime´s beers).
The place that sucked is between the Fish Camp or whatever it´s called, and the coffee house. Coffee house (whatever it´s called) had pretty good coffee and food, as well.

If you're talking about Lilly's Coffee Bar, I agree, it's awesome. Cool atmosphere and great coffee.
The shitty place might be Pete's Bar. It's just an old smoky run down bar. Kinda cool and historic, but I've never eaten there and never heard good things about the food, but people don't really go there for the food.

M Shack. Great place. My woman loved their quinoa salad.

You're probably thinking of Slider's. I've never been there. It always looks dead everytime I go past. There's another place called Slider's (no relation) up on Amelia Island that's really good, though.
Or possibly Lemon Bar if you're talking about right on the beach.

Didn't realize this was the SB favorite places to eat in Jacksonville thread. While I'm here, I highly recommend TacoLu at the beach, Mojo BBQ (multiple locations around town), and Bistro Aix in San Marco. Metro Dinner or Maple Street for breakfast and brunch at multiple locations around town too.
But back on topic, are teams other than Armada FC charging like $90 for a jersey w/o customization? I want a navy blue Armada one but I'm not about to plunk down that for a plain Nike template kit. I know officially licensed sports apparel is a big money business and I figure NASL teams need to squeeze out every dollar they can but $90 for a plain, American second tier team kit seems ridiculous.
