I thought this was a really interesting discussion about the implications of the new money, why people like Roman invest in these teams, and how Roman came to have all this money in the first place. Dirty dirty.

Syed is an undoubtedly brilliant guy, but some of his articles just lose me with the way he seems to take everything too far. Reading an article from an economist, political philosopher and football fan can be a bit draining at times.
Everyone knows what kind of businessman Roman is. He has had positive and negative effects on Chelsea, the PL and the soccer world in general.

He probably did. The video only briefly touches on where he amassed his wealth, rather giving an opinion of why Roman bought Chelsea and how that is "corrosive" to the culture of the game.

Roman has nothing on Usmanov in terms of sleeze. a small part of me, deeply hidden of course because I'm an Arsenal fan, would love a sugar daddy owner. that said, I couldn't stomach Usmanov. he's a vile individual.

My favorite part is his acting like Roman didn't/doesn't really care about Chelsea.
I'm sure the Glazers were life long United fans and the terrorists have had City in their hearts since their Jihad training days etc...
I'm sure this is a smart guy but he comes off like a whiny douche for much of this video.

Did you watch the video? He said that Roman probably didn't care about Chelsea when he bought the team but has learned to love them. It is his team now, after all.

Yea I watched the video that's how I learned Roman (and other owners) only invest in their teams because they offer them protection.

He also said Man City and PSG owners are basically doing the same thing and they got the idea from Roman. The Glazers bought Man U as a business venture and if you'd watch the video Syed specifically describes how that's not why Roman bought Chelsea.
