Just trying to get a fan's perspective really and this is going to sound like a flame but it's honestly not.
When United beats Crystal Palace you know ultimately the result is meaningless so what is it that makes you excited? It just has to be weird for a Man U fan to be in this position in February.

Ah. I see.
Wins are wins. Progress is progress. Improvement is improvement. Any road shutout win is better than what most of this season has looked like. They could be in an AC Milan position right now, with no hope for any qualification, and I'd still get happy over a win.
I'm hoping United will keep this going to make a push for 4th. Not going to happen, but maybe they could luck up and get Europa League in 5th. I know you hate that competition, but it's better than nothing to me. I know some will say just don't qualify for Europe and focus all on winning the EPL next season after a big summer, but I don't feel the same way.
Also, keeping up that momentum will be good in the Champions League. Think United can get past Olympiakos, maybe even get a 2012 Chelsea-like run if things go their way.

It's been an interesting season that's for sure. I'll still clear my schedule to watch matches, watch every match beginning to end, be pissed when we lose and stoked when we win regardless of table position.

Yea got a good draw to start. Beat Oly and get another good draw and then once you get as far as the semis anything can happen.
If you can't get past Olympiakos any chance Moyes is sacked?

Probably not. I think those in charge have shown they are going to be patient with him.
Even though I've been hard on his team and tactic selections this season, he inherited a team headed downhill if some tough sales and purchases weren't made. He and Woodword royally screwed it up this past summer, but the Mata purchase and the Rooney extension shows that they aren't completely clueless. United still have a busy summer ahead of them, replacing 3/4 of the backline that started today and still needing a strong central midfielder for depth (glad to see Fellaini back out there today). Could always use another guy out on the wing if Nani and Kagawa are on their way out.
Kagawa is pretty much done, though.
