Doesn't matter if you absolutely spike the guy running for the ball in the thigh on a breakaway. Easy call to make for any ref there.
ETA: After the replay Gomis' touch was definitely going a bit away from the goal, but it was 100% a penalty. The red card.....ehhhhh maybe a 50/50 call.

Nobody is arguing the penalty but Cahill clearly was cover considering the touch away from goal.

Yeah, I thought initially it was a no doubter on the red card, but the replay made it more arguable. It definitely could have gone the other way.

You get a red if you're the second to last defender and you prevent a goal scoring opportunity. It's exactly what Courtois did. Definite red.

I see your point but the high leg would have been a card on it's own. Reckless from Courtois but he was left out to dry by the insanely high line from Chelsea.
