I started this by trying to understand the outpouring of sympathy for the man... I have no real ill wishes toward him.
I'm guessing that if this kind of thing happened to Ramos or Bale you'd be saying similar stuff.

He's always played the right way, which you can't say about Ronaldo and Maradona. More than anything I wanted him to shut up Maradona.

I've always hated him, and I've never said that about a player. He always makes the dumbest passes in the back half, he doesn't have that great of vision, and I hate his stupid fricking face. He keeps getting called up because he makes decent touches in the attacking half (at times) and he gives Argentina a toughness when he's in. Why he is taking pk's is beyond me. He's basically my Wondo. I wish he would just go the frick away.

Messi had bad outing in that shootout, but it didn't really surprise me. He has been known to do that.

At Lazio he did have one fantastic season in 2014-15. He really was pretty effective not just breaking up play but as a true regista and was the reason for some "breakout" players like Felipe Anderson, Keita Balde and Candreva always getting the ball in so much space.
I guess that's the appeal of a Biglia type since Argentina has a wealth of players that are going to create if you get them on the ball in space.
However, this season he was very inconsistent for Lazio, one of the reasons they fell off pace.
He's not quite Jordi Alba but, yeah, certainly doesn't have the most likeable face.
