Between the 1974 WC final loss to Germany, the 1998 WC semifinal loss to Brazil on penalties, the Euro 2000 loss to Italy on penalties, the Euro 2004 semifinal loss to Portugal, the 2006 WC loss to Portugal, the Euro 2008 squad dominating the Group of Death and losing to Russia and then the heartbreaking loss to Spain in the 2010 WC Final, the Dutch have had some heartbreaks throughout the years.

The Dutch style of play is capable of absorbing being down a player more than most v. The Dutch tendency to not keep shape or fill gaps makes being down a player a precarious position

Dutch need a clinical finisher and one more technical midfielder. De jong is legit. Strootman’s constant injuries hurt them over the last decade.

I was speaking more towards thier Midfield transition play, but yeah 10 years ago I'd still consider them the favorites.
