Good (except Lovren )!!!

I hope they spend the £75mm wisely, we are looking for a GK and DM next (hint)...

The majority were good business.

Speaking of DM’s....whomever gets Wilfried N’Didi from Leicester I think is getting the next great pivot man in the league. Dude is already/going to be a stud.

Lovren is the only regret IMO...

The Klopp era buys are a huge upgrade on the BR era buys...

We prob cost ourselves £15mm with the royal frickup with VVD in the summer...

To be fair he was one of the best CBs in the EPL the year we bought him from Saints and to boot he was easily our second best defender when he joined.

We played the man out of position and bad performances there couple with fan reactions destroyed his confidence IMO. Add this to the fact that he changed system to a team that plays a high line that put him into island situations is a recipe for disaster. I get all the the LFC desire to replace him but the pure hate of Dejan that is shown by so many LFC fans is pretty sad. What happened to YNWA?

P.S. sorry for the rant and not necessarily saying you are a part of this, but it was something post reminded me of and i had to get of my chest.

We paid like £4m for him. Considering what we paid for other options around that time -Aspas, Borini, Balotelli - at least he met his production value

No offense, but.. sorry, he sucks... he looked okay for a bit at Southampton when he sat deep and had Schneiderlin and Wanyama protecting him..

That wasn't him playing well, so much as having his deficiencies covered up... big difference IMO.. When have we played him out of position???

He has the physical and technical skills to play in a high line, but ZERO defensive instincts...

I don't wish the guy any ill will, but I just don't want him playing for us anymore.. Same with Migs..

Lambert for 4mm was always an insurance/plan B option... I was glad he got his chance to play for LFC..

He was one of the hottest players in the Prem. at the time that transfer happened. And, it was only 4,000,000. Little downside at the time.

Reacting to the transfer, Klopp said: "If you bring one player in for £100m and he gets injured, then it all goes through the chimney. The day that this is football, I'm not in a job anymore, because the game is about playing together That is how everybody in football understands it. You always want to have the best, but building the group is necessary to be successful.

"Other clubs can go out and spend more money and collect top players. I want to do it differently. I would even do it differently if I could spend that money. If I spend money, it is because I am trying to build a team, a real team. Barcelona did it. You can win championships, you can win titles, but there is a manner in which you want it."

After United bought Pogba

Jurgen Klopp has told Liverpool fans to forget about the £75m transfer fee they paid for Virgil van Dijk and instead focus on his quality. When asked what the 26-year-old will bring to the club, Klopp told Sky Sports: "Quality. That's why we got him, that's why we were interested in him. It's quite difficult at the moment because technically he's still a Southampton player. We don't make the prices, the market does. Liverpool supporters should forget about the price.

Agreed and I didn't really say otherwise. Just stated I don't like the hate out there for him.

Even with those things, which I agree as well with these statements, he looked good enough that we dropped £20-25m on him. Just didn't work out, which is a same because I do like him as a person.

He's always played LCB and we tried to play him for the longest time as RCB, which might not seem like a big deal but switch from playing right/left defensive end to the other and that would equate to about the same type of transition.

Didn't think you did, I just had a rant to get off my chest. But ultimately I concur and believe it's time for both Migs & Dejan to move on to green pastures.

yeah, times have changed very quickly... I don't have the actual quotes, but between those two comments above, he had already acquiesced and said as much..

Fair enough... but I still want to see the back of him at LFC... good luck wherever he lands..

quote:

He's always played LCB

He's sparingly played on the right for us... usually due to injury.. ironically, Ive always though he's looked better at RCB..

he is right footed though, so much easier to settle in on the right.. not like asking a lefty

Skrtel was the RCB when he was bought...

edit: the only time I really recall him playing at RCB is with Sakho... probably why he looked better.. and I'll give you our LB options didnt give him any help when he played on the left..

I think it’s awesome they opened the check book up

But Klopp now comes off as a huge hypocrite with his foot in his mouth

I hear you, Im just saying he admitted as much long before this deal (after Pogba)... times have changed and I'm glad he (and club) are willing to adapt to it..

We still don't have an open check book, but if we want to compete... we cant try and buy young and develop.. we have to pick our players to spend big £ on... though what is big £ is changing drastically..

edit: and I'm sure that had a lot to do with his BvB mentality... Im sure his time in the EPL opened his eyes wide to his naivety/romanticism, if he wanted to compete..
