The best thing the club can do at this point is to approach Madrid or Juventus and deal him at a discounted rate. We already have money to spend, the extra money we would get selling him to Arsenal simply is not worth the consequences.

Regarding forcing him to stay or simply ignoring his request, it would go to arbitration court and Suarez will likely lose. The LFC lawyers have read the contract multiple times this summer and there is zero ambiguity according to them. I think the problem is Suarez got a verbal, not written, deal from Rodgers.

If Suarez is forced to stay, he wont go to the reserves. He will play. He does like the club and he does love the fans, he just wants to accelerate his career. He wont refuse to play in a World Cup year, it would almost be career suicide.

Not binding in common law jurisdictions.

(but it is in Louisiana for those of you professional soccer players in our great state)

Do you think BR actually gave him the promise saurez is saying he did? Why would any right minded person promise that? It's stupid. It is really hard to believe.

It is hard to believe, but who knows. BR likely had the mindset of "we'll deal with next summer when it gets here."

It still is pretty shitty of LFC and BR if he did say that though. It would be pretty hypocritical to expect Suarez to honor his word but not do the same yourself.

I totally agree. But there is no chance in hell I believe BR said that. And if he did, he probable said it (blatantly) in the context of Suarez going out of the country. What kind of dumb, idiotic, tard baby would say "oh don't worry Luis, we'll make sure you move to a champions league club within England. I'll make sure it happens." I will bet my own dick and balls that it was never ever said in context of a move within the country.

Yes, I'm that confident. Or maybe its the fact that I don't have any male genitalia to begin with. Either way, I'm right.

Sucks, but that looks like the way it's gotta be. But I do agree, he's going nowhere until he turns in a transfer request. This is BS that Tottenham could have >£100m while we could possibly end up with less than 40, but no way would I sell to Arsenal for anything close to what they've offered.

Bale can be a brand. Suarez can't. Simple as that.

If it's not written down (and signed by both parties) it didn't happen.

What's the prize for money for making the Champions League knockout round? Whatever it is, the domestic price for Suarez should be international going rate for his services + prize money.

Pacheco talking to the club about moving back to Spain. It really should happen. He will never be a first team player.

Why would Luis Suarez choose Arsenal over Liverpool?

quote:

The Sky Sports pundit was speaking after the Uruguayan striker publically reiterated his desire to leave Anfield on Wednesday, claiming that Liverpool had broken promises and that he "needed to be playing in the Champions League".

Thompson pointed out that Arsenal, who had a £40million bid for the player rejected last month, are not guaranteed a spot in this year's Champions League because they still need to overcome a two-legged qualifier later this month.

And the former Liverpool captain believes that if Suarez was to stay, then they would have a real chance of beating Arsene Wenger's side to a top-four finish next season.

"This is Arsenal bidding for him and Arsenal haven't even qualified yet for the Champions League," Thompson told Sky Sports News.

"Who knows what might happen? They haven't even got that yet and he's wanting to go to Arsenal for Champions League football.

"Certainly he's going to get the same media attention and the same difficulties as he's had at Liverpool, so is it going to be any different at Arsenal?

"And if Arsenal don't make another signing, which has been known, before the deadline happens at the start of September then where does that leave Arsenal?

"With Liverpool's signings, they could be challenging Arsenal for a top-four place next year. Why choose Arsenal ahead of Liverpool?"

Stay calm

Earlier this summer, Suarez cited press intrusion as one of his reasons for wanting to quit Anfield and Thompson says he would understand if he moved overseas.

He had been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, but their new manager Carlo Ancelotti appears to have prioritised the rumoured £85 million signing of Tottenham's Gareth Bale.

And given the state of the transfer market, Thompson says he would not be happy to see Suarez join Real or Arsenal for less than £55m.

"Liverpool have handled it very well and the big thing is to stay calm over this," Thompson told Sky Sports News.

"They have Luis Suarez for another three years of his contract and they don't need to transfer him. He might throw his dummy out and he might be really upset, but [they shouldn't sell] until they get a price that he's worth.

"It's different when you've got £85million being offered for Gareth Bale. I'm quite sure if they want to go anywhere near that for Luis Suarez I think a deal could be done.

"Is he half the player of Gareth Bale? The club have played it right, but do you want to risk having an unhappy player around the place? We had it with Fernando Torres and is it going to be the same with Luis Suarez?

"I hope Liverpool stick to their guns. Pardon me, but £40m is not the worth of Luis Suarez and if it's Arsenal or anybody else it should be £50m to £55m.

"His good mate Edinson Cavani went for £55m and Suarez is better than him."

I just found this interesting.

Also to lift spirits:

quote:

When you walk through a storm
Keep your chin up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At he end of the storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark.

Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown.Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never walk alone.

Keep these words close to your hearts boys it's going to be a rough month from here on out, but remember together we are stronger and with this Manager & Ownership I believe we can go in the right direction. All we have to be is unified as a club top to bottom and we will make it through every storm. YNWA
