thats still considered the champions league and still a better position than Liverpool no need for word games

Lol, clearly Thompson hasn't seen who we have to beat to "get in to the champion's league" and that we've done it for what 16 years now?

as an arsenal fan on Twitter posted earlier, it's nice that your old players mindlessly stand up for the club whereas ours seem to mindlessly bash it (looking at you Wright, Adams, Robson...)

we have the odd one... see Steve Nicol

Non-'Pool people I guess I meant to say I found this "FUNNY" not interesting for those reasons stated above.

I'm sure this has been discussed on here, but I saw this on Twitter about Suarez and it really stuck out to me.
Suarez left Ajax, a Champions League club, for Liverpool, a non-Champions League club, in 2011. Sure it was a move to the EPL, but obviously he didn't think he "deserved" to be in the UCL then, right?
Now let's flash ahead two and a half years, and he all of a sudden HAS to go to a UCL club in Arsenal.
Did he think Liverpool was going to be back in that position in those two seasons? (I hope not.)

Why not? If we would have spent the Carroll, Downing, Hendo, Adam money wisely, we very well could have been... That all happened after he was purchased.
We were only one season out of the CL... and 2 seasons removed dismantling RM 4-0 at Anfield...
edit: He was brought in under the assumption he would be partnering Torres

to be fair, Liverpool is a better club than Ajax (imo) and would be in the Champion's League if they were in Holland. I think he looked at it as he was getting to go to the prem and play for a better team. He probably thought they would be back in Champs League again as well.

The (I hope not.) was a troll, I couldn't help myself...I don't think Liverpool had teams capable of making it to the UCL these past two seasons, but, like you said, some bad transfers played their part in that.
I know Liverpool was in a bit of a funk when they signed Suarez, but they've been just outside the top four all three (2.5, really) seasons he's been there.
Just seemed like a sudden shift to me. He must've thought LFC was going to be back in the UCL by now. I clearly understand LFC > Ajax, but if the UCL is your huge goal...then why leave?

Well LFC took a chance on him when others wouldn't. He probably looked at it like a stepping stone. Prove you can play at LFC and then you can move anywhere..

I mean, Celtic make the UCLs every year... but they will never win it or come close. Same could be said for Ajax now days.
I'm sure he means a top UCL side, that can potentially go deep into the knock out rounds..

Confirmed #LFC team to face Valerenga: Jones, Spearing, Wisdom, Coates, Flanagan, Henderson, Allen, Alberto, Downing, Ibe, Aspas.
#LFC subs: Mignolet, Enrique, Toure, Gerrard, Coutinho, Assaidi, Lucas, Borini, Sterling, Kelly.
Who else will be watching?
edit: Hendo is captaining the team tonite!

ehhh, traditionally, sans Torres, we've only sold our top players to RM or Barca... So, I can buy it, if thats what you mean...

On the BTO SPort pregame show, before the LFC friendly... Michael Owen has said RM have entered into the Suarez race...
We can only hope he is right..
hearing LFC would take a lesser fee + player and that we may be willing to loan him to RM with an option to buy next season...
Could get interesting, but from all accounts, JWH seems intent not to sell him to the gooners...

It would be madness if he did.

The pressing is phenomenal, but a lot of lazy shots..
