that was a good interview. he was very respectful of Liverpool. that was particularly impressive for me. more so than RvP was re: Arsenal in anything I read last summer.

We definitely need to bring in another CB. I think we will. We have money to spend + the Suarez cash. I'd like to get another relatively young CB. I'm actually really confident with the Kolo-Agger pairing. They looked fantastic in preseason and haven't given up a single goal. Plus Mignolet looks fantastic.
I'd like to bring in Schneiderlein (sp?). He wouldn't be a starter, but he would be a good sub in matches where we need to hang on late or when we are losing the midfield battle.

Short of a judgment forcing their hand, I'd tell arsene the price just went to 70 for you 50 for anybody outside the PL

Bench him the entire season for all I care. I understand his sentiment, but that was in context of moving out of the country and CERTAINLY not in the context of moving to our most realistic competition for 4th place.
Sorry Luis, you move out of the country (or to a higher placed team), or you ride the bench for the season. Selling him to Arsenal for 40 mil would be the deathknell to our CL hopes.

I do agree with you in some sense. BUT if the club did give him their word, I would expect them to honor it instead of putting him on the bench.
At this point I would go to Madrid and tell them they can have him for £25m. I really don't care.

Oh of course. I just assumed they gave their word in the context of his desire to move to Madrid.

Couldn't agree more. Unless you get 70 out of Arsenal (no way in hell, and rightfully so), dump him for pennies out of the country.

yeah, I'd say £40mm+1 to anyone outside the EPL... £60mm to anyone in the EPL...

I think its perfectly reasonable of Liverpool to refuse to sell him to a direct rival, it certainly wouldn't be the first time that has happened. Unfortunately, this is going to lead to a very ugly situation if nobody else comes in for him and Suarez feels like Liverpool have to let him go.

I know, they're stuck between a rock and a hard place. Either way, its going to be an ugly situation, so I say do what's best for the club now. Either sit him and tell him I'm sorry you can't go to our biggest competitor for CL football, or hand him to Madrid on a silver platter for 25mil.
The only way I'd be ok with him going to Arsenal is if we were properly compensated. And considering the circumstances I would want between 65-70. I know its ridiculous, but the club are now put in a ridiculous situation.

I will sacrifice a small gooner child if/when the sale happens in hope his first season is just as successful as Torres was in his first year with Chelsea. I'll also sacrifice a half French/Spanish baby so they don't make the top four & miss out on CL football.
