Well his first ban for biting was 7 games in Holland so a minimum of 10 is necessary. Absolute MINIMUM.

that was Holland and a little different circumstance

Jermaine Defoe - biting - 0 games

Roy Keane - ending Haland's career with a high knee - 3 games - after he admitted in his book he did it on purpose, a further 5

Surely, he falls somewhere in the middle... I'll stand by 4 (though I'm sure it will be higher)

How is it a different circumstance? Both instances he purposefully bit someone.

You biting apologists are sickening.

I can't imagine wanting a biter on my team. Boggles my mind.

go frick yourself... no one is apologizing for it...

It's different because it happened during the game and the ref didnt see it, where the incident in Holland happened during a dead ball situation in front of the ref...

I'm not of the opinion that this means I should automatically completely hate the guy and view him like he is the scum of the earth like fans of all other English clubs not named Liverpool. He's plays for Liverpool, and he plays hard, therefore he's my guy. That said, I've never been more disappointed in the actions of one of my favorite players in all my years of watching sports. I don't know that a 4-match ban is enough. It would be the end of the season, yes, but I think Luis has some serious on-field anger issues. He needs help. If FSG want to continue with Suarez, I'm on board and both he and FSG have my support. But I would also totally understand it if they sold him. I don't like the idea of any one man becoming such a huge source of distraction for the team as a whole.

We'll see what happens.

Please show me one Liverpool supporter who is OK with what Suarez did today. Please show me one Liverpool player who isn't completely livid at Suarez's actions today.

You can't? Then frick off.

That would be the ONLY reason I could see selling him... Well, also, if he decided it was time to leave England...

It's hard to replace the best player in the league and we'll need him more than ever next year...

So Suarez has apologized to Ivanovic over the phone and he accepted...

In the meantime, Mike Tyson has started to follow Suarez on twitter... no shite...

I don't want to sell him either, but he is awful PR for the club. Yes, he is a fantastic player and the league-leader in goals scored, but he is a liability in many ways, and is not the type of player you want the club to be identified with.

It would take a lot for me to accept the decision of keeping him at the club. And on top of that I fear that anger management may hinder his performance as a player. Like we've said on many occasions, his power and drive to "win at all costs" is both his strength and his weakness. He has scored almost twice as many goals away from home than at home, a testament to his ability to thrive on that passion which stems from the opposing crowd.

Stolen from reddit, but it's pretty spot on.

quote:

The reactions here are completely overwhelming. Ok, he bit the player. I think its evident, no questions asked. These will have three fallouts in that order.

1) Press goes batshit crazy asking Suarez to go to a mental institution. Fergie chips in with how Suarez is a bigger threat to humanity than all other dangers combined.

2) FA has a look, hands over a 6-7 match ban. 6 matches, out of which we could never have salvaged the season anyway. NOT a huge deal.

3) Club managers say ah, lets see, Hazard kicked a ball boy, Cantona had drop kicked a fan, lots of players have gone way over the line and Suarez has bitten twice. That must mean he is not fit to be in the team, despite the fact that he is the best out there at present.

In the end, it all goes under the water, Suarez nets another 30 next season for the club is playing in and the worship begins. I don't support his actions on any ground. I HATE to see him stoop so low at times, becoming an animal. But people saying, he should leave us and go, we don't need him, seriously? SERIOUSLY? We would be battling for 15th-16th (maybe even lower) if not for him. He has almost single handedly carried the club forward, given 200 percent and been our answer to other clubs saying "You've got who, we've got Suarez. So try in vain, coz he will net 30 again."

He IS the reason we can look up towards the future saying ,all right, we just need a support system for Suarez and we are in the race! If we think for a moment, such incidents will not happen every season and Luis would be very clear of the same. Saying that he will surely pick up a 10 match ban each season is ludicrous. Clubs will still come calling for him with big money. And if we pretend to stand on high moral grounds and sell him, we lose out, no one else does.

Comparing Sturridge, Coutinho, Shelvey in Suarez's level is another facepalm. Sure, they can deliver if we are aiming for 10th spot even before the season begins. If we aim higher, we are under an illusion that we created for our own selves.

TLDR: Yes Suarez did wrong and should be punished but selling him and saying the club doesn't need him comes across as preachy and deluded.

I really hope he stays because we won't be able to replace him, but I couldn't fault FSG at all if they let him go.

Get off of that high horse you. Stop the moral high ground BS. A deliberate wreckless challenge that can physically hurt someone is as bad as losing your mind and trying to bite someone, in my book. I am not condoning Suarez at all. And I never did. All I'm saying is there are comparable footballers who have done stupid things and still pulled on their team's jersey.

If you think it is morally reprehensible for Suarez to have bitten someone and then put on a Red shirt. Well your captain slept with his teammate's wife behind his back and is still your captain. I know it's off the field/on the field blah blah. But that is morally reprehensible to me. Did you ask Terry to leave Chelsea?

@ War, there was a little sarcasm in the Roy Keane and Shawcross comment. But Keane did admit in his book to being malicious against Haland (for which he was banned 5 games) and I have watched games in which Keane made tackles that anyone making them would know had a high chance of injuring the opponent. I was generalizing, you're cool. My bad.

This thing has shaken me up pretty bad. And put me in a bad mood. Such a stupid crazy thing to do. WTF Luis.

Your own fellow fans are calling you a clown. I'll leave it at that. Your best player JUST BIT SOMEONE ON THE PITCH. AGAIN.

ETA:Just saw Suarez and Pool released a statement and good on them for that. Honestly if I were Pool I'd let the FA deal with it, and fine him internally whatever they feel necessary. I'd hope they gave him another shot, but do you make some sort of "last chance" deal with him? If he does it again, do you just let him apologize and move on again? At what point does it stop? Again, I just think the guy is unstable on the pitch....it doesn't make him a bad guy, just a shithead when he's playing. Sort of like DeMarcus Cousins.

If he stays on the club and gets some help for his antics, I have no problem with him staying. It is what it is. It's despicable, but he can recover from it.

nuh uh you're a bitch.

But seriously, this fricking psychopath completely ruined what could have been a very enjoyable match and one that had massive importance. Chelsea got straight up cheated.

Why continue to bitch?

Like I said, they need to get him mandatory counseling, with some sort of ultimatum... By all accounts he's a great guy/husband/father off the pitch... but when he's on the pitch, his competitive nature goes into over drive that is what makes him special, but it also dances on the line and every now and then he goes over it and snaps. He needs to find a way to harness it, because it's what makes him special and a liability...

Anyway, by all accounts he was prepared to stay at LFC, when he really should be playing CL ball... So, I dont reason to not stand by him...

and to the people who will twist this into something they want to hear, i acknowledge what he did was wrong...

Where was your outrage when Kun Aguero deliberately did a two-footed stomp on David Luiz... and avoided a sending off, when that game was swinging CFC's way? Could have hurt him way worse than a bite... save us your fake, overblown, message board, disgust..
