Eh, I understand why people don't like him... And the Man U thing is bad, but it would have been a much different story had he joined them in 2005 instead of RM. He joined them when he was nothing much more than a little used sub...

I think the bigger issue was letting his contract wind down to a year left before leaving for RM, and us only getting 8mm...

We all make mistakes, he wanted to come back to LFC after, but NUFC bid twice as much for him...

Like I said,I may have ended up supporting another club had it not been for MO + he won the 2001 FA Cup over Arsenal single handed.

I think loyalty in sports in this day and age can be used to increase one's reputation, but it shouldn't be used to tarnish it. That's just how it is these days. Unless they straight up talk shite on the club (which Owen may have done, I haven't kept up with him) I feel like it's tough to hate him for leaving for RM or going to ManU. Gerrard and Carra are aberrations. They should receive praise for their loyalty but I don't think others should be held to their high standard.

Then again this is from an Arsenal fan who has had to learn to cope with all his team's great players departing...

I understand this because as I have stated many time before if it wouldn't have been for Fernando Torres I probably wouldn't be a Red. So we have shared sentiment in that regard.

But as I said in my prior post what Torres did IMO is far less a travesty than what Owen committed yes I know he isn't rue Scouse but I believe if you come through our system like he did you are an adopted Scouser, so him to go to the likes of ManUre was such a stab in the back ... I'm sure he had other offers that he could have entertained and gone somewhere else, but no he choose THEM.

He was great and did a lot for us but in my book all I can do when I think of him is

I hear ya, but I would say MOST Reds that have negative feelings for him, lay in his move to RM... the ManUre move was just the confirmation of their feelings...

NUFC were relegated, he wanted LFC... LFC went for N'gog and didnt want him... any professional football players with aspirations are going to choose a team with chances to win trophies...

Torres pissed me off more, but I kinda lived that...

Both of them are kinda sad stories after they left LFC..

Again, not trying to change anyone's mind... I also tend to believe there is more to stories than the rags have stated all these years...

Good article by Carra on MO today... kinda portrays both sides of the sentiment..

Liverpool supporters did not take too kindly to the way he left but I’m a firm believer that time is a healer and I’m sure they would have welcomed him back after his contract at Newcastle had expired.

I had heard he was thinking of joining Manchester United but he would have jumped at the opportunity to come back to Liverpool. He would have been happy to be a squad player and was excited at the opportunity to return home.

The way he left Liverpool had saddened Michael and he wanted the opportunity to redeem himself. I sent Rafa Benitez a message explaining what Liverpool could get on a free transfer but Benitez instead went out and bought David Ngog.

Joining United was a mistake. It ruined any chance of him repairing things with Liverpool fans and it’s safe to say United supporters never really took to him despite his famous winner against Manchester City.

Honestly I wish we would got him back if nothing but to repair those feelings of him because N'Gog was shite IMO.

No doubt, Carras right... feelings will forever be divided and nothing will change that... He made his bed and will lay in it..

Suarez says he's open to offers from other CL clubs.

But that doesn't mean he has to take them and on top of that I'd price him so high that either we make bank or he stays.

75-80 million pounds sterling

That raises a good question for everyone. Would you rather 1 Luis or 5 15M-20M players? While I am in no hurry to lose Suarez, if we were to sell, how much do you think it would accelerate the rebuilding process?

Worst case scenario would obviously be to sell Luis and FSG pocket some of the cash instead of reinvesting it 100% back into the transfer market.

What has been the rumors on our transfer kitty for the summer? 25M? 50M?

please just fricking break the bank and retain what we have now now. IMO it will pay dividends by seeing our sell to CL competitions.

As I stated earlier I would only sell him for ridiculous $$$ (75+)

Highly doubt this. But it is a concern.

I still think he's invaluable. Only sell him if he wants to go. Honestly I'm not sure I'd take any amount of money for him. He's that important.

Easy. One Luis Suarez. I do not care who is coming in. I am not ready to lose Luis Suarez. Not even for Messi and I completely mean it. I've said this previously on this board. Finding a player with the skill, hunger and understanding of the team that Suarez has is next to Im-frigging-possible.

A few twitter accounts reporting the following in regards to him "thinking of leaving LFC"

Luis Suárez has gone on Radio Sport Montevideo 890 to denounce yesterday's reports which stated he could leave #LFC as "twisted words"

Suárez "I'm sad to read these things. When it's in England I accept it and understand, but I do not expect my words to be twisted over here"

Alonso has rejected a new contract with Real. As expected, we're immediately linked with him. Not sure how I feel about it.

As much as I love Xabi, I dont necessarily want him back... If the club did resign him, sure I'd be happy...

He's not a "pure" DM and Stevie is excelling in his old role...

If we get him this year yes ... next year I'm with you.

ETA: HE'S A FREE TRANSFER plus what he could add experience wise to our squad would be great ... plus future coaching role like carragher

I'd do absolutely anything to see a midfield of Gerrard, Xabi, Eriksen.
