Sick strike by Messi

But that was terrible from Walkerzimm

He looked like every defender that has tried to knock Messi off the ball for the last 17 years.

He stabbed at the ball exactly what you are told not to do from a young age

He wasn’t trying to knock him off the ball

You can’t knock people off the ball while leaning backward and stabbing at the ball

Soo... like every CB against Messi for the last 17 years.

I know you're trying to set this up for a "this is the best CB in MLS?" argument and it's just not there.

No I’m not

You are reaching

He took a stab at the ball, it’s fundamentally bad defending at any level in any league

Stabbing isn’t trying to knock people off the ball

You've done it before, soooo...?

He took a stab at the ball because he was scrambling back to position only for Messi to gather and quickly go in the direction against him. It was some last ditch shite, not sure what you wanted him to do.

I said it was terrible and left it at that

You decided to run with it like it’s some type of insecurity

He fricked up it happens

But you trying to defend him by saying he was trying to knock him off the ball was false

So what did you want him to do?

It's cute when you try to turn the argument around.

Oh you poor thing. Never said it was a good attempt to knock Messi off the ball, but it was an attempt... a last ditch one at that.

Anyways, answer the question... what should Zimmerman had done there?

Drake Callendar does shite every match where I simultaneously think "this dude could move to Europe" and "this dude should not be a starting MLS GK"

You are just looking for a reason to argue

Zimmerman should have just fouled him completely and not stab at the ball

His body was leaning back, would have been better throwing his body weight forward

Because that's how momentum works. Again go back and watch the whole sequence. It was a last ditch attempt to do anything to throw off the best player of all-time. There was not much else he could've done.

Didn't work.
