I know it was Guatemala, but Klinsmann is doing serious work with the National team.

It was the Guatemala B team, in a friendly, but still.

I thought the substitution and tactical adjustments made at the half were very good.

We were fortunate that we were able to change both central mids last night. We wouldn't have that luxury in an official match.

Jurgen has always been clutch with 6 subs. Usually our subs play better than our starters.

We do have some depth now. It brings up some interesting questions. I really think Donovan is probably at his best in a more central position now. I think we clearly started playing better when he moved from the right last night. Part of it was the subs at halftime, but part of it started with that adjustment before the half.

Dempsey could play on the "left" with Donovan in the hole, Zusi on the right, and Fabian at left back, but Jurgen seems pretty set on Dempsey as the 10. Maybe Donovan on the left? Don't know what's going to happen at this point.

And as good as Stu looked it doesn't in any way settle that "what type of midfielder should be partnered with Bradley" argument. Cause if you think a Cameron type is the best pairing because it allows Bradley to get forward more then I'm not sure how you reconcile that with wanting a Bradley/Holden midfield.

It's certainly better to have these sort of questions than the "do we move Boca over or let Bornstein start at LB" type questions.

I don't think it matters where our attacking players start off because I think it will be pretty fluid.

Yeah.
JK likes to be a wet blanket. He knew damn well Mix and Stu would outplay Beckerdreads and Paco.
Let's hope he's not that stubborn in real matches.

PSS I have been watching the game 40 years and we dominated the Germany game wus. Don't ever try to make out you know a damn think about soccer again.

The U.S. in the last 3 W.C. have made tremendous strides from where they was in the 90s.

Yep, although they may not be the best of friends, Donovan and Dempsey have always been on the same page on the pitch.

You lock at the bulk of their goals and usually, the other one is involved in some way. They need to be on the field together if we want the best chance at winning.

Even if he spelled "thing" correctly, that sentence still makes no sense.

I guess while he was watching all that soccer for 40 years, he never opened a grammar book.

I just came down off my orgasmic high from watching stu boss the midfield for 45 long enough to post this. That's what we've been waiting for in his road back and man did he deliver. He earned a starting spot in the good cup with that. The MF was dynamic once he and mix were brought on. Also we started destroying them on the left once Shea came on for Castillo whose first touch last night resembled that of a brick wall.

I still think Landon can play out wide with the likes of Stu and Mix running the show in the middle. He drifted up top and in to help the clusterfrick that was Beckerman, Torres and Corona at first. Great ball by Torres though on the first goal. Gooch and Goodson were solid in the back except for some bad communication on clearances with Rimando. Parkhurst was just kind of there all night and Beasley put in another good effort.

I know it's a shite team but great result none the less. Confidence is something that you can never have enough of.
