I still miss skeletor

I just feel like bob has a better eye for talent, and makes better personell decisions. I like klinnsmann's big picture, but it's torture watching mo edu, onyewu, and Castillo when we're leaving players like feilhaber, kjlestan, ream, and lichaj at home. Michael parkhurst over eric lichaj? Wtf?

The "Re-hire Smoke" threads go on the Rant.

I like klinnsmann. I'm not asking to have bob back, I just think Jurgen has done a terrible job lately.

I'm willing to let this play out a while. Gooch has to be gone. Period.
We were all sucking JK's dick after the Scotland match, so there is some promise there because we've seen it. We looked worse against Antigua than against Scotland.
How they do taking the show down the unpaved dirt roads of Meximerica will show the true heart of this team.

I feel like most of our problems can be fixed by playing the right players in the pool. Brek Shea has to get on form, lichaj needs to make a return, Jurgen should play half of the pool in front of edu. Feilhaber, beckerman, bring back Ricky clark. Play Cameron in midfield, I'll take anyone until holden gets back.

If we are begging for these guys, US Soccer has a much bigger problem. I agree about Brek Shea. He can be that "it" factor. But he is miserably underperforming right now.

Mo edu is that problem. I feel like our best lineup without Holden would be a 4-5-1 with Shea and Donovan wide, Dempsey behind Jozy, and Bradley and jermaine up the middle. Johnson and chandler the outside backs, and boca and Goodson in front of howard. We seem to be intent on playing the 4-1-4-1 with baby s the anchor, baby should be given more freedom to go forward no matter what we play.

Feilhaber is so overrated by this board. He should get a camp invite but if we're counting on him as one of our consistent starters, we're in trouble.

I hope you are right but I doubt it, at least this go around. He needs to GTFO of MLS and over in a European league.
As for young players providing spark, I think Boyd could do that even though he did look like shite in his limited time tonight.
It just sucks that our young talent in Shea, Boyd, Agudelo haven't had shite for experience against even decent competition like you will see with elite national teams.

Are people REALLY asking for Ricardo Clark again? Like really?

Only as an alternative to edu.

We wouldn't be this desperate if we used Danny Williams in a holding role ... but I guess that harkens back to Jurgen and his questionable tactics.

if we're going to play torres at LB, might as well put brek there

That was tactical. We knew he wouldn't have to play much defense. Break needed the break. We'll see him in October for sure.

That's a good point.

Eh... all I can think about is Bornstein.

Not me. As for the criticism of Klinsmann's roster selections for friendlies and ATG, I would refer you to Sheep's post a few days ago regarding Skeletor's roster selections for WC qualifiers. It's. Early.

Honestly, I appreciated some of your soccer opinion until you busted out FIFA rankings a week ago.

As one of the biggest proponents of not making a coaching change unless we had a SURE thing (like a Hiddink), I'm giving Klinsmann benefit of the doubt.
I love his enthusiasm, and it seems like the players buy in.
My concerns when he was hired was that he would struggle tactically (either at the beginning of games or making adjustments). We'll see if that holds. I also believe he'll struggle with the ummm..... resolve(?)... required to win ugly in Guatemala. I think back to our last win in Guatemala.... a hatchet fest that resulted in Eddie Lewis getting busted open, and escorted to the locker room by riot police. We won 1-0 on a Bocanegra header.
I guess we'll know more on Tuesday.

I don't miss Bob (that doesn't mean I hated him or anything, but we needed a change), and Feilhaber kind of sucks.
Edu is there to allow Bradley and Jones to push forward. The minute he was gone against Canada everyone started bitching about Bradley having to play so deep.
I'm certainly not sold on Klinnsman yet (we've looked good, we've looked bad, pretty much as usual) but we just started qualification, I think most people would agree to give him the benefit of the doubt until he really fricks things up.
