Bratislava
Budapest
Other than those pretty much everywhere else is like that. Which, in accordance with my travels, is all of Germany, and that's it.

Yeah, your list is correct. I just assume everywhere is like the Mediterranean area.

Haven't been to Spain, but those of my friends who have all say that its just a huge party. The Spanish seem more receptive to good times with strangers.

I´ve had great times in classically austere areas, I think a lot of people spend time in Spain to vacation, eat well, and drink well, and want to show you that what they have, doesn´t suck.

To be fair, some of us were quite loud when we went out to eat, or walked down the street. They are a very laid back and quiet type of people. Very prim and proper.

I haven´t had the pleasure of starch, until back here. It´s available, but it´s a no no.
An oxford´s got to look pretty natural, and then again, I can´t see it going down well in Eastern Europe. For anyone.
Put a polar over it.
I´m also given to not wear socks, and that´s a no no, anywhere, much of the time.

Agreed. Pants that give a tailored look. Tucked in shirt, with a needlepoint belt. Worked wonders in France, Italy, and Austria.

yeah, I don´t know. I´d imagine people from there, who are in Western Europe, in the countries that worry about fashion, or take it seriously, are probably ridiculed when back home , with great regularity.
As you said, you´ve got it, it´s preppy, but with a twist, and a wink towards a bit of elegance. You´re fine.
Some people can´t be pleased. Turn on the charm, tell them you´re from Spain, Portugal, or Italy (France doesn´t do it for them, either).
That said, they are the biggest fashion fiends, the ones who have money, but they go for the douchey gay Northern Italian, Spanish metrosexual look.

Florence is my favorite city on Earth. The country certainly is as backwards as can be in some aspects, but in other ways it is one of the most beautiful places out there (all due respect to Iberia).
