Super talent. Like almost all Dutch squads.

seriously, they're always loaded. And they're always the "sexy" pick to win the Euro and WC. They just never get it done.

It will eventually happen for them. For such a small population, they produce an amazing amount of players.

And various North African immigrants. Even then, it pales in comparison to the number of able-bodied men playing the sport in England, yet Dutch teams are consistently better. Indeed La Masia owes much inspiration to the Dutch system.

The point is that the Dutch youth system is the best in the world, for both players and coaches, and continually churns out excellent players. That type of continuity increases chances of molding superstars that can get them over the proverbial hump. They did after all finish 2nd in the WC, and could have won, and I'd bet they will be a top five team for the next couple of years.

well they got real close in 98/00

the thing about that team was their defense. they had the best central defender of that time and de boer, who was very quality himself

the big thing with those teams was that they rose to the occassion even with racism scandals going on

and it's interesting that dutch football went anti-france in the next generation, relying less on immigrant-based talent

i remember in euro 2008 i was like "who the frick are these white guys?"), and they turned out awesome (sneijder, robben, rvp, etc)

Dutch teams implode from the inside, it seems. Those late 90's teams had some weird racial stuff going on, and the teams 2006 onwards have some weird ego stuff messing with the chemistry of the squad.

Speaking of loaded teams, the mid-noughties Juventus teams were absolutely stacked. I mean, just look at this roster. LINK

What country produces the most soccer talent per capita?

Argentina - 40M (~California)
The Netherlands - 16M (~Florida)
Portugal - 11M (~Ohio)
Czech Republic - 10M (~Georgia)
Denmark - 5.5M (~Wisconsin)
Uruguay - 3.3M (~Connecticut)
Trinidad and Tobago - 1.3M (~Metro New Orleans)

I honestly think they will be top 5 forever, they've lost less than 2 games in nearly 3 years since Euro

I just looked at their last 38 games dating back to September 2008 vs the Aussies
they're something like 29-1-8
they're only loss in nearly 3 years has been Spain in the WC Final
before losing to Spain, I think their previous loss was to the Aussies in September of 2008

forgive my calculations I quickly went through their results so I might be a game or two off

Darnit I LOVE the Dutch

Maybe. Im going with Brazil, France, and Spain were just better.

Now 2002 they didnt qualify. Not sure what was going on.

well a big reason why they lost to brazil was b/c seedorf couldn't play in the semis. he was the oil that made the engine run well

hard qualifying group and a decline in talent + internal issues

that was a transition period. the old guard was still good enough to play, and expected to just be given their spots. the old guard were also filled with complete dickheads who hated each other (shocker). there were also racism issues
