As a Newcastle fan, I like it a lot.

As a PSG fan, I think it sucks.

What say you?

Idk. Seems like what the cool kids say on TD.

I haven't looked at it enough to have a genuine opinion, but I do think for the sake of the competitiveness of the game something like this isn't a bad idea.

Until the way money is distributed in the game is fixed, it will reinforce the clubs who can already make money. A mechanism of self-preservation. Hopefully one of its positive effects will be to curb the insane prices of players. I'm skeptical that it will work.

This is the thought behind the Florentino Perez led Super League.

I remember this one. I think that the amount of money necessary to compete in this kind of league would drive all but a few owners away.

I mean, someone has to finish dead last, right? You really want to fork up that kind of money?

It's not really fair, is it?

I'm not against financial responsibility, though

12 or 14 clubs were envisioned.

I'm similar to Brave in that I haven't really read enough about it to form an opinion. I am also torn on parity vs. dynasty in sports. Part of me likes parity but there is an SFP part of me that says screw parity. So I guess I'm of the opinion that whatever happens will happen and I'll continue to enjoy the sport.

I agree with this. I think the one thing that leads me to really support some form of parity is so we'll get more seasons like the one we just got.

Yeah, this.

One of the penalties for not abiding by the rules is that clubs will be disqualified from the CL, or something like that. However, I don't see UEFA or FIFA really implementing that considering it would kill their profits to have City, ManU, Barca, Real, etc not take part in the competition.

I've already seen some mumbo jumbo about how clubs should be no more than 20% above the financial limits. Wtf is the point of a limit if we allow people to surpass them without penalty from the get go?

Yeah, I'd usually agree but then again, one of the things that made the end of the season so dramatic was the fact that Manchester United was a long-time dynasty and Manchester City was the team that had not won a title since the 60s.

I was happy to see a new contender for the title. I'm not sure if that will happen with FFP, but if it did that would be great.

I have a question based on my limited understanding of the exact rules of FFP...if the amount a team will be allowed to spend is based on that club's revenue, wouldn't teams like Barca and Real be at an advantage with their inflated individual television contracts?

is there a spending cap?

i thought a club could spend as much as it likes so long as they aren't 45 (or 30) million in the hole over the three year monitoring period.

like i said earlier though, i'm a FFP newb.

eta: now it looks like what you are asking and i'm saying are the same things.

if clubs revenue is extremely high then they'll be able to spend a whole lot more.

yeah that is a huge advantage.

It's a very advantageous rule for the Spanish giants. But they have always had a financial advantage over top English teams.
