I like BPL and am in a fantasy league with 18 Brits (I'm top of the table currently) but I would really like to expand my horizons. I like the BPL, but I would like to get some insight into the bundesliga and latch on to a team to follow. TIA

RB Leipzig if you want to be a fan of the future GOAT.

Bayern is bandwagon and Dortmund screams 'I'' American and only like them because of Pulisic". I love Dortmund, but they are becoming a real bandwagon team because of Pulisic.

Leipzig are young and are a lock to be in the UCL in 18-19 and may be in next year if they continue playing well.

You really should watch a lot of matches and learn as much as you can about the clubs. Over time, events will happen that will form a bond between you and a club even if you are at a distance. And I don't suggest merely watching the matches but read as much behind the scenes info that you are able and watch as much off the pitch material as you can find. This is the true organic way of becoming a fan. However, since you asked for assistance, I am happy to suggest BVB.

BVB has the best supporters of the Bundesliga. I will have words with any man that says otherwise. BVB has the best logo:

BVB has the best ground:

Of course, the Yellow Wall:

And I am not even talking about Pulisic but no one should blame you for liking BVB because of his presence on the club. You are an American, why should you not appreciate the opportunity that BVB is giving to the player and like them for it:

BVB is well managed from the board room to the technical area so if you appreciate quality, effective stewardship and accountability then BVB will please you. The club has significant resources but will always be David to Bayern Munich's Goliath.

Other possibilities include Hamburg. Hamburg is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany with high class, art, and culture. Steinway pianos are hand made in the city. Bobby Wood plies his trade at the club and becoming a fan is a fine way of showing appreciation. The club itself has not always had the fortune of competent management at either in the board room or on the pitch. The club has to fight to win points. The team's acronym, HSV, is of course unfortunately analogous to herpes simplex virus.

Hertha Berlin is a possibility as is Ingolstadt. If you would like to support a true scrappy underdog you will do fine with the Audi Boys of Ingolstadt. Leipzig is present for your choosing although you may find it difficult to be accepted into their fold being as you are not a true lifelong fan.

Viel Glück!

HSV fan here.

They went from being a perennial CL participant to a relegation battle shitshow. Times have sure changed. They are the only BuLi team to never be relegated. In fact, they have a running clock in the stadium letting everyone know they are still up and running. But I'm afraid they are going to make the drop this season.

If you like under achievers, bat shite crazy fans and watching games on dodgy standard definition streams I have the club just for you.

Publicly supporting Red Bull is just like wearing a shirt saying punch me in the face. Yes it does happen to their fans in Germany.

It just a club with no soul

But from a strictly football standpoint forgetting the rest of the bullshite they are run very well from a structure youth teams, scouting and first team. No one thought they would be this good this fast once they made it to the first division.

Borussia Monchengladbach.

Nice stadium. Great fans. Have some history with a great decade in the 70's, but hit hard times in the 90's and 00's. Got much better under Lucien Favre. Was in Champions League the past two seasons, but this season has been underwhelming. Very entertaining style of play. Easy to watch.

Have had quite a few Americans over the years (Kasey Keller, Michael Bradley, Fabian Johnson)

Colors are black, white, and green. Team nickname is the foals. Comes from the 70's when they had a young, fast, and aggressive team.

Choosing Dortmund has always been a bandwagon choice for years.

They are the second most supported team in Germany and have a huge east German following bc the east had no teams.

That's pretty funny. I've noticed that all the Bundesliga teams have solid banter (in english) on twitter with each other.

Yeah. I think Gladbach misspelled Leipzig the entire week leading up to their game.
