Rookie question here, but aside from pride is there benefit to winning the group as opposed to second place? Ie higher seeding or something?

You win your group, you get paired with the second place team from the group you're paired with.

Winner of Group G plays second place in Group H (probably Russia).

Second in Group G plays winner of Group H (probably Belgium).

I would rather play Russia.

Low made a massive mistake in subbing on Mustafi for Boateng. It wasn't like Boateng was a liability. He basically swallowed that sub for no reason when he could have used it later to put on Podolski and Schurrle, which they could have used as Ozil, among others, was absolutely gassed.

I said it at the time. Tweezy and I tried to figure it out for a while. Then he fricked up by taking off Götze instead of Özil who was absent and terrible when he had the ball.

MUller looked knocked the F out at the end. I know that soccer is apparently flippant about concussions, but man, will Muller play?

Apparently they are reported that Muller is uninjured I call BS on that one. Yeah, the face bleeds a lot, but he was definitely not all present at the end of that game.

I know FIFA rankings are shite, but how mediocre were their results in the last few years to be ranked at like 38th or something around there?

The starting formation doesn't really make sense to me. Mertesacker is super slow and he is afraid to make a forward pass. Then you have four CB's at the back. Lahm in midfield is fine, but I think Germany would look a lot better with Schweinsteiger paired with Kroos and Khedira with Lahm on the left and Boateng on the right.

That's an option only if you drop Mertesacker and put in Boateng.

That's third after goal differential and goals scored. So, hypothetically, if we tie Portugal 1-1, lose to Germany 2-1 and Ghana beats Portugal 1-0, we and Ghana would both finish with four points, a 0 GD and 4 goals scored, and then we'd advance because we won head to head.

Watching the full match now.

Why the hell did Löw pull Götze?

Özil is still a beast. Intermittent, but a beast nonetheless.
