did the ref even call a foul on that play? correct decision, but Valencia might have just cost his team the World Cup

guess that was 1 of those where the refs talked about it to make sure they got it right

Better pass from Valencia and thats an easy goal. Poor first touch and shot regardless, but not a good enough ball from Valencia.

stepped on a French player's knee while chasing after the ball as the Bleu slide tackled it away

ETA: guess I should specify... Antonio Valencia was red carded... Enner Valencia is still on the pitch

Cleated the shite out of a France players leg. Moved his cleats halfway up and all the way down his leg

seemed a tad harsh to me. looked kinda like valencia was trying to stop the ball and did initially make contact with the top of the ball but then digne won it and his studs went right into his leg. AV didn't have too many complaints about it though. definitely put more in it after he lost the ball. probably the right call.

seems especially harsh considering sakho had a nasty elbow that was red-worthy that went unpunished. probably looking at a suspension for him.

Costa's headbutt didn't get a retroactive card, I doubt Sakho's elbow does.

yeah it was worse after i saw it again. the difference in the two is digne sliding. looks a lot worse when the cleat hits that part of the leg and you're standing up.

Ecuador need to hope for a quick outlet/long ball for one of their 2 fast attacking players to latch onto. They have been giving France's back 4 fits.

It looked like the ref was talking to the 4th official before issuing the red card. I think they were using the replay on the scoreboard to judge it.

Have we mentioned the Ecuadorian player wearing a lunch lady cap yet?

No?

There's an Ecuadorian player wearing what appears to be a cap normally reserved for school district employees who regularly work with Salisbury steaks and government mashed potatoes.

Is that even legal, or allowed? Effectively the use of replay

it was determined it looks like he's wearing women's panties on his head

Don't believe so. Those accusations were flying around after the Zidane red card in '06
