... is exactly what we needed right now.

Change my mind.

I'll reserve judgement until what I see he can do with a full squad of players in the non-friendlies, but this camp was perfect from a first impression standpoint.

Not only did we win both matches, but we dominated the run of play in both. Steffen never really had much to do in either match. I also liked how dangerous we were in the attacking third, especially in the midfield, can't wait to see what that looks like when Pulisic, McKennie and Adams come into the fold.

Overall, our position depth seems pretty good everywhere except for LB and up top. A healthy Jozy is still our best striker and I guess at LB is Antonee Robinson whenever he gets back to full strength.

Looking ahead to the Gold Cup, I think the best XI would be:

Steffen
Yedlin-Zimmerman-Brooks-Robinson
Bradley
Adams-McKennie
Pulisic-Altidore-Weah

Talk about an over reaction to crown him after two matches vs two C squads

Winning these type of games is the standard, it’s nothing out of the ordinary

How we played was fairly out of the ordinary for a January camp.

It’s not like the level of competition is anything to be fearful of

This is the standard

Talent and tactics wise we are far superior in these two matches

I will wait to actually make a judgment when we play real competition with our best players

It's a January camp. It never is, yet the games are almost always boring and we usually look like shite. This was the first time in a LONG time that we actually looked competent in January.

7 of the players who saw the field for Costa Rica today also played in the wins vs. Peru and Chile in November ‘18.

Alvarado, Calvo, Cruz, McDonald, Salinas, Mora, Cubero.

And Guzman is a regular player for Costa Rica.

I could have guided the players to these results.

Nobody should be excited or convinced of anything following these matches.

I love when people say things like this and don't offer a replacement.

I love Yedlin, but I do think his best role is coming off of the bench at 60-70 and attacking tired legs.

But like Pville said, idk who you start over there.

I’m not gonna lie, it is nice to finally see a permanent changing of the guard at a lot of positions.

Forgot about Nagbe, take out either Djordje or Roldan and put him in for one of those midfield spots. Also, if we're going to do a 23-man roster, take out Parks, I was trying to show what my depth chart would be right now.
